Given the devastation in America caused by fires, floods and mass shootings, are terrorists likely to conclude, “Why bother planning attacks? I can just watch America being destroyed by climate chaos and gun-toting crazies.”

I think that many of them see terrorism as a pathway to Allah, Heaven, and those 72 virgins or whatever it is. Plus, they like the feeling of the power of life and death over others, and in some cases they are well paid. And maybe there is a revenge factor, getting even for the death of a person(s) they cared about.
