Federal judge appears skeptical probationary firings were for performance

Again, what you are suggesting would take years, meaning, if it's not done with expediency, it will never get done

I get it, it sucks, but what is the alternative?

Follow the law? We DO NOT have a unitary President and the President takes an oath, and the correlary of his oath is to faithfully execute the laws. Not make it up as he goes.

Just say'n.

There is a phrase that Musk is familiar with. "This ain't rocket science."

Which is true, it isnt'. See in rocket science you can launch unmanned rockets and "test to failure", take the design data along withn telementry, figure out what went wrong, redesign and then run another test to failure. Rinse, repeat.

When you are talking governemnt and peoples lives you can't "test to failure" because of the impact on people and because once the governemnt fails there is no stepping back to fix it.

Just say'n having a rocket scientist attempt to "fix" government might not be the brightest idea in the world.

I understand that it'd not ideal, but in any other business, when they discover inefficiencies, they make changes to fix that inefficiency. If that means they have to let people go, they do. We are ALL subject to that possibility. Why are government employees the only ones who seem to be immune to that?

So then your answer is to do nothing.

I don't know of any law that says federal employees can't be fired. What law is being broken?

First of all, what has been happening in the purposeful injection of CHAOS, not attempting to find "inefficiacies". It inexperience individuals going in with a chainsaw and cutting for cuttings sake.

No one has said government employees are immune from being fired. Happens all the time. We've (royal "We've", I'm not a federal employee) even had RIFs.

Claiming federal employees are immune is hyberbole.

Stop trying to put words in my mouth, I said not such thing as "do nothing".

I fully support audits, locating fraud, waste, and abuse. Trimming where trimming can occur, fixing things that are broke, and prosecuting criminals for fraud. But that isn't what's happening here and should be conducted by knowledgeable, serious adults.

Federal employee workers are a drop in the bucket. The cuts are about breaking government, then claiming government is broke. An attempt at a self fulfilling profecy.

What is the hurry?
The alternative is to do it in a way that does not cause so much damage

Cutting people just to cut people makes no sense

When I say your answer is to do nothing, it mean that In the sense that you also want there to be studies, and research, and interviews, and court cases, experts brought in etc... this means YEARS of looking at a problem, which means nothing will happen.

You're in favor of trimming....great...lets say we do it your way....it means it will have zero effect. The next president will shelve it, we're back to status quo.

You say his purpose is to inject chaos. What's your evidence for this?

DOGE is operating on the assumption that there is Government fraud, waste and abuse without bothering to identify any.

They assume that by just cutting people with a chain saw that they may actually hit some.

They also assume that Government does nothing of value so any cutting does no harm.
