First of all even if they reach the figure of 1 million deportations a year.... Fully 30% of which will be immediately reversed by the actions of the deportee simply returning... They won't even make a dent over the next 4 years in the illegal population.

Make them financially liable.
You want to be here? Prove it with a real social security number and a trackable tax ID.
Working for cash wages? You go to jail unless you pay the IRS what you owe them and so do the employers paying cash wages to avoid payroll tax.

Alternately ( and I think this is much better) eliminate all payroll taxation and go to straight consumption tax so that everyone has skin in the game.

It's all about having skin in the game....

Yes....I agree... It's far easier to change the ambient atmosphere than it is to deal on an individual basis with each of them. Make them pay.... Let them feel the same financial burden that all Americans feel. Let them pay into the social security system with the full knowledge that they will never collect from it. You won't have to deport them they'll figure it out on their own. In the meantime if they wish to stay and continue to pass in payroll taxes and social security contributions why stop them?
