No matter how you slice it, if aliens come here from another star and are not benign and friendly, our goose is cooked.

If they are monitoring us, its from a long distance. We would have detected them the first time they came to our planet. They would not expect to find intelligent lifeforms to be here, so there is no reason for them to be cloaked at first contact, but assuming they sensed from a long distance that we were intelligent and we had technology, they would study us through telescopes at first, maybe from Mars. If they eventually came in for a closer look, they wouldnt be making enough visits Earth to even understand what weapons we do or dont have, before we detected them.

They arent expecting radar detection from us. They might be able to make their ship invisible to the eye, but there is zero reason to believe that they have anti radar tech, because they definitely wont even have radar tech. They will have different tech from us.

Humans will go underground in bunkers and sewers, and underground parking garages, etc., and they will make new bunkers. Mining would suddenly become the most common profession on Earth.
