I can see no way to justify this:

I don't care if this guy was sleeping with your wife or even your daughter. It's the chair.

If he wasn't sleeping with them, then it's a short drop and a sudden stop. Time for the crowd to cheer.

That or burned at the stake: Don't really care if he has "mental issues".

A city councillor is in hospital after being doused in five gallons of petrol and set alight.

Lee Vogler, a councilman in Danville City, Virginia, suffered serious burns after he was attacked by a man at around 11.30am on Wednesday.

The man forced his way into the offices of Showcase Magazine, where he worked, and drenched Mr Vogler in gasoline.

While trying to run away, Mr Vogler was set on fire by the attacker, according to horrified onlookers and law enforcement.

50 lashes, then the chair.

A Florida woman is facing a life prison sentence after a jury convicted her of murdering and robbing her husband's 88-year-old great-grandfather so she could run off with her boyfriend to Michigan.

Britney Andrus, 29, was found guilty of second-degree murder, burglary and grand theft of a motor vehicle on Friday in the 2020 beating death of James Little at his Sebring home. Her boyfriend, 25-year-old Travis Best, previously pleaded guilty to the same charges and reportedly testified against Andrus at her trial.

Andrus and Best were living in the mother-in-law suite attached to Little's home. Her husband was in jail at the time of the murder. In the days leading up to the slaying, Andrus and Best hatched a plan to steal from Little's home, including his car and jewelry from his wife who had died just a month earlier, cops wrote in a probable cause arrest affidavit. They planned to travel to Michigan to live with her grandmother, cops said.

This is truly disgusting. Why is this allowed to go unchallenged (a life sentence???? really???? she'll be out in 20).

She deserves the death penalty. So does he. They can say goodbye to each other on the gallows.

This isn't just about that.

It's about how these people need to get on the express lane to the firing squad.

Drunk and kills grandmother on purpose.

Cut off his balls and let him bleed out.

He needs to be really gone.

It's a moot point, because the law has specific penalties based on the specific type of crime committed. Generally, crimes that do not involve 1st degree murder are not eligible for the death penalty.

And preventing the wrongfully convicted from being wrongfully executed and allowing them to file appeals should take priority over retribution.

Virginia no longer has the zapper, but for attempted first degree murder (the pending charge) he will face life in prison.

First, it's not retribution.

It's accountability.

Second, please tell me where that axiom is written as such.

You can file all the appeals you want. Not over 15 years.

You'll always jail and execute some innocents.

Not in these cases.

And BTW: Don't want to be criminally charged and executed....don't get to close to the line.

Beyond a reasonable doubt and you are history (or should be).

He will be out in 20 to 25 years. It always works that way.

People might think twice about this if they knew there were 10,000 volts waiting for them.

Regardless....this man committed a heinous crime and deserves to die for it in my opinion.

I doubt he will be out that soon if convicted unless there is a plea deal. I would be fine if it were zappity zap TBH, but just pointing out that won't be the case. If the victim ends up dying in the next few days/weeks, it will def be life in prison. Virginia has no parole.

I'm curious what your point is.

There may be "lower crime rates" in a totalitarian state such as North Korea, but we certainly don't want a totalitarian state just on the off-chance that it might lower certain crime rates.

Your argument appears to be based on pure emotion rather than reason.

I think the law that exists is a better judgment of what reasonable punishments for specific crimes are, and if you believe a specific punishment is unreasonable, then you would need to cite some statistics on things such as recidivism rates. But, on the internet, people can simply chant "death penalty" for anything the want to, even if it would be patently absurd.

The guy is likely a republican with having a wife and kids. Depends on the severity of the burns, But it does take at least a day for the swelling to start on with inhaling hot air or flames. Like that actress lady that crashed into a garage. She took a day before she died,

What don't you understand?

Who said anything about lower crime rates in totalitarian states?

I said...."might".

And I also said "regardless".

And you would be wrong in making that judgement.

Everyone is welcomed to an opinion.

and if you believe a specific punishment is unreasonable,
based on ???? What outcome? If you are still looking for deterrence as my argument, drop it. That would be a side benefit only.

then you would need to cite some statistics on things such as recidivism rates.
Only if you care about deterence. I am more interested in accountability.

I have no interest in doing anything for anyone who would attempt something like this. IME, he deserves to be removed permanently. That is not emotion. It's pure and simple. He did it, he pays for it.

So be my guest. As I said, everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Including you.

The victim is a republican but doesn't officially run as one. Traditionally candidates for Danville city council all run as independents. Every now and then someone will try to run associated with a party and the backlash from all sides is swift and they never win even if they don't drop out. It is considered bad form to try to inject partisan politics into the local race as the city council seats are all at-large seats.

If it is obvious who the perpetrator is, it is a shame we will waste money on due process. I get why, i understand…but the waste of time and money is a shame when they deserve a quick double tap, or getting lit on fire themselves.

That is what they DESERVE.

I get that.

And it might be time to change that.

In cases of rape, drunk driving caused death, I am fully for the removal of those who perpetrate.

It certainly seems we are out of skew when it come to our CJ system.

I struggle with this one. They still get a life. Not much of one....but it seems to say "we don't have the balls to pulled the trigger, swing the ax, spring the trap......" (whatever).

I have said several times that every time I get close to supporting abolishing the death penalty, some sick effer comes along and does something that would make me willing to execute them myself.

Guy killed his girlfried with a rifle shot to the head. Then ran over her to ensure the fetus was dead.

Don't care if he was on drugs......or what.

This is no longer a human being.

Read the one I just posted.....and the one I am about to post.
