What was the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic had designated borders within the USSR. And those parts that were given to Ukraine by Russia only made sense within the USSR.
But the traitors who destroyed the USSR did not care about this.
Therefore, peaceful relations between modern Ukraine and Russia could ONLY exist if Ukraine had neutral status and friendly relations with Russia. If this did not happen, all gifts should be returned to Russia.
The Russian lands were not transferred to Ukraine so that NATO missiles could be installed on them and American biological laboratories could be built.

So why did they wait for five years after Nato before the Warsaw pact was formed.? and there has been no Warsaw pact for decades so why does Nato need to exist? it is just a foreign legion for US and Western Imperialism and neocolonialism and that started with the brutal illegal attack on the former Yugoslavia.

Ukraine existed long before Russia did. Russia conquered Ukraine in the Russo-Ukrainian war that was between 1917 and 1921 which occurred after the Russian Revolution. From Wikki: "Following the Partitions of Poland (1772–1795) and the Russian conquest of the Crimean Khanate, the Russian Empire and Habsburg Austria were in control of all the territories that constitute present-day Ukraine for over a hundred years. As I said earlier Russia hoped to enter NATO and co-opt it to support Russian expansionism. Only when Stalin realized he couldn't cozen Western Leaders like he did FDR did he abandon his aim and form the Warsaw Pact.

Russia was made in VIII or IX century (depends on what you count as a state), mostly by Khazars and Vikings from local Slavic and Finn peoples. Ukrainian nazionalism (as a stupid and evil ideology of hatred trying to turning Russian people into anti-Russian animals) was made by mostly German nazies in second half of XIX century (more than one thousand years later) as a weak response on Russian creation of Czech people. And all that Petlura clownade with Ukrainian Republic was nothing but German puppet fake state to steal Russian resources.
