Zone1 Why we don't "love others".

What about those of us who just do t believe in Love to begin with?
Too many 'compassionate' people sacrifice their own well-being for others. That's a zero-sum game and not what God intended. We are to edify (build up) each other. Self-destruction for the sake of others is hardly edifying.

Tell that to a parent that gave up their life defending their child. Or how about all of CMH recipients that gave their lives for others. In fact, couldn’t we argue all soldiers, LEO and first responders are putting their lives on the line for the sake of others?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not arguing that guy is right for believing that love doesn’t exist.

Those are extreme examples. The 'command' is more for daily life. And, the commands of Jesus are mostly for the church, not the world.

I agree those are extreme examples, but so was your argument. If we are talking about daily lives then making sacrifices for others is not only noble, it is healthy too.

It'll be interesting in several weeks to see Aaron Rogers go up against his old team.
Too bad the Steelers team he is on now are looking like total crap.
The Parsons trade has elevated the Pack to serious contenders.

I was actually asking about those of us who don’t believe in love as a concept at all. Not towards or from self, God, or others.

What I described are the common problems that keep even Christians from doing the "good works" that we are to "prepare for". Part of preparing is solving those problems in our own lives so we will be prepared to help others. "If the blind lead the blind both will fall into the ditch."

Sure. I don’t see how that makes making sacrifices for others bad. Unless of course you are going to use extreme examples.

What do you think of these concepts.

Assent of will (highest form of agreement).
Judgment (discernment)
Duty (when all other motivations fail).
Propriety (respectable behavior, manners, appearance, etc.)

These are the tenets of agape, Godly love.

What I'm saying is that I skipped the sacrificial part of helping others by preparing for it.

I haven't seen you around for awhile..

I appreciate that you admitted getting angry at God .. not sure u still do but every now and again, I feel anger toward him. But I think most people who get angry w/ Him are really angry at the way things are (on Earth), which they blame on Him. It kind of makes sense because He could intervene and do... well, many things, but it looks like He just leaves things as-is... until the End..

Padre Pio literally got beaten up by the devil and his demons almost every day.. or maybe it ws every day... It's a horrific story. And yet Pio was always dedicated to God... a virgin, a priest.. He could read minds in confession... often knew the person's sins better than the person himself could recall (knew the details.. like where, when and etc...). But God didn't spare him from those vicious, despicable demons.. still don't really know WHY....
