Too many 'compassionate' people sacrifice their own well-being for others. That's a zero-sum game and not what God intended. We are to edify (build up) each other. Self-destruction for the sake of others is hardly edifying. What about those of us who just do t believe in Love to begin with?
Tell that to a parent that gave up their life defending their child. Or how about all of CMH recipients that gave their lives for others. In fact, couldn’t we argue all soldiers, LEO and first responders are putting their lives on the line for the sake of others?Self-destruction for the sake of others is hardly edifyin
Those are extreme examples. The 'command' is more for daily life. And, the commands of Jesus are mostly for the church, not the world.Tell that to a parent that gave up their life defending their child. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not arguing that guy is right for believing that love doesn’t exist.
My Packers are 2-0.![]()
I agree those are extreme examples, but so was your argument. If we are talking about daily lives then making sacrifices for others is not only noble, it is healthy too. Those are extreme examples. The Parsons trade has elevated the Pack to serious contenders. It'll be interesting in several weeks to see Aaron Rogers go up against his old team.
Too bad the Steelers team he is on now are looking like total crap.
I was actually asking about those of us who don’t believe in love as a concept at all. Not towards or from self, God, or others.Too many 'compassionate' people sacrifice their own well-being for others. That's a zero-sum game and not what God intended. What I described are the common problems that keep even Christians from doing the "good works" that we are to "prepare for". Part of preparing is solving those problems in our own lives so we will be prepared to help others. "If the blind lead the blind both will fall into the ditch."I agree those are extreme examples, but so was your argument. Sure. I don’t see how that makes making sacrifices for others bad. Unless of course you are going to use extreme examples. What I described are the common problems that keep even Christians from doing the "good works" that we are to "prepare for". What do you think of these concepts.I was actually asking about those of us who don’t believe in love as a concept at all. Not towards or from self, God, or others.
I haven't seen you around for awhile..I was actually asking about those of us who don’t believe in love as a concept at all. Not towards or from self, God, or others.
