Zone1 Why we don't "love others".

Maybe a little prayer would help us all: "Lord, help me to be better today than I was yesterday."
The problem with this is that people don't just want God's help. They want him to do all the work. ;)

Between travel and and an inner ear infection I have lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I hope I can keep it off, but with cool weather coming, probably not, so I am not going to rush to put a new hole in my belts quite yet..
I wear out the same hole in my belts year after year. My weigh hasn't changed in over 50 years, plus/minus two pounds.

Mine fluctuates. I weigh a little less right now than I did when I graduated college but I did pack on a lot of weight when one of my parents was dying as I was fast-fooding just about every meal for 6 months while basically sitting around all day. That was a few years back though. It came off pretty quick once it was over.

Sometimes. Some are stronger or more motivated possessed of more resolve than others in various ways. When we are gifted we should not feel either superior or proud, but simply blessed.

But there is usually no single way that is most right for everybody either.

I am more inspired to clean my house when I've been in a home where there is no cleaning much more than I am inspired by the immaculate home that I know I will never achieve.

The Lord works in mysterious ways and never underestimate His creativity. :)

Actually, just opposite. I'm picky so I eat basically the same things all the time. Easy-peasy, inexpensive, and very healthy.
.

Ditto. I have lots of food sensitivities, so the menu is limited. I don't care. I'm fed.

We are to "love others as we love ourselves".

The problem is that we don't really love ourselves. We're overweight, overworked, overstressed, in debt, frustrated, angry, feel helpless, misunderstood, mismatched with spouse, can't control our children, are unappreciated (add your own gripe).

This is what we bring to the table when we interact with our neighbor (who we might not like all that well). If we can overcome these problems, we can express true self-love. Our self-love will then flourish with plenty left over for our neighbors.
Loving others has been defined as wanting what is good for the other. The same goes for loving oneself--wanting what is good for oneself. Recently a new term, "Mental Wealth" is working its way into the vocabulary. Mental Wealth has been defined as, a combination of mental health balanced with support, well-being, fitness, health, nutrition, and diet. I would argue that religion/faith is also a key element to "mental wealth". I believe knowing we are loved--especially by God--is a key element when it comes to loving oneself.

If one can get a job working by onesself, that is a huge huge win.

Did your football team go belly up today?

It’s all a matter of perspective. From my perspective we have won the cosmic lottery. Existence is good. The bad is overstated. We are spiritual beings experiencing a material existence. Of course we are going to rail at the inherent unfairness of a material existence. Nothing wrong with that. That is as long as it doesn’t keep one from seeing how good existence is. Because when that happens, there’s nothing to look forward to and one cannot see reality.

"love your neighbor as yourself,"

This command means treating others with kindness, compassion, and respect, valuing their well-being as much as your own. Jesus expanded the definition of a "neighbor" through parables, such as the Good Samaritan, to show that even those who are different or considered outsiders are worthy of our love and care

We can see with Kirk's advice on the replacement theory, you people hate the outsiders....and the black folks the most, this makes Kirk a false prophet for financial gain.

Immigrants from the third world have screwed up their countries, and their presence in large numbers will do the same here. Recall the ship disasters that are common over there. Three times as many get on those boats and they capsize, drowning most of them. That's the scary metaphor for such immigration.

What about those of us who just do t believe in Love to begin with?
