Basically, because religion potentially promotes socialism.

Jesus said to give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and was concerned about the welfare of the poor and needy. Some people take these Biblical messages and interpret them as favoring welfare programs for the poor or socialism.

Therefore, if religion was eliminated, people might be less likely to support these things, and it would allow society to lower taxes without concern whether or not the poor suffered as a result.

I'm glad you don't have your finger on the nuclear bomb...

Jesus said give unto Cesar what is Cesar's and to God which is God's. That which is God's is tithing (10% and offerings for the poor and the needy and following God's laws). The 10% is used to run the Church. Cesar's is taxes for running the government and following the civil laws. This has nothing to do with socialism. And, how would you get rid of socialism? Through fascism? Come on.

People just need to learn to read.

No where does the Bible say to steal from others and give it to the poor.
It's not stealing at all, silly. The Bible is pretty clear about that.

Stealing, as defined by the Bible doesn't refer to taxation. The ancient state of Israel, which enshrined the 10 Commandments into law, was funded through taxation.

Stealing only referred to illegally taking another person's property, not legal acquisition of property, such as taxation, or taking resources from enemies defeated during war.

It's similar to how "thou shalt not murder" didn't prohibit killing in warfare. Killing in warfare was perfectly legal.

In America, our Constitution’s First Amendment keeps the government out of religion.

And whether any particular happens to support or promote either Capitalism or socialism is beside the point.

You are making weird arguments today. Baseless nonsense you’ve been posting, really. And no valid syllogism supports your purported “logic.”

And what? nothing about the white liberals adopting religion in government to implement those programs? that particular door swings both ways.

What the hell, has the looney left redefined politics?

So, in your eyes, it's ok for someone to take money out of my pocket and put it in yours?

LOL

I'm in favor of getting rid of everyone on the left.

Completely, if it's being legally done via taxation. The Bible was perfectly fine with that, and it wasn't considered theft under the law of the state of Israel. The state of Israel had to tax its citizens in order to function.

Only one thing left to do...We need to get religion back into the schools...otherwise your situation is hopeless

n the Old Testament, taxes were primarily for supporting the temple and the priesthood, and later for the monarchy. The Israelites were commanded to pay a temple tax (half-shekel) and tithes (10% of produce and livestock). These taxes were used for the upkeep of the temple, supporting the Levites, and for religious festivals. Later, when the Israelites had kings, taxes were also levied for civil purposes, sometimes becoming a burden on the people.

Why people on the right should favor getting rid of religion

Religion isn't something "the right" can get rid of. It's a subjective philosophy generally regarding the meaning of existence and codifying moral codes to navigate life.

I take it you also have no problem with corporations getting subsidies?!?

why are you telling me this?

If getting rid of religion only means that the music has to go with it, forget it. In my opinion, too many masterpieces are within the gospel music format.

God bless you always!!!

I'm not automatically against it, but if taxpayer money is being spent one way or another, I would prefer it be prioritized toward people who are in need.

The biggest misconception that the Christian Left makes is assuming Jesus was socialist. He wasn't.

The Bible explicitly discusses voluntary giving to the needy. It does not advocate government coerced help, which is socialism.

No, by definition, that is not "socialism". Coerced help is protected under the American Constitution. America is not a "socialist country."
