Why my EV works for me

Do you mean high speed rail?

There are some expensive toys in CA, but practical or toy becomes a moot point as climate change depopulates most of the state.
No, leftard policies depopulate the state.

The climate may be changing (it always has) but to think man is causing it is a Globalist deep state scam. Driving a Tesla vs. F150 makes no difference.

Thinking man can affect the weather in any significant way is the epitome of ignorance and arrogance.

Also, F150 is a gentleman's truck.

If you need to really do something, an F250 or F350 is the minimum.

Why not a conventional 21 speed peddle bike for your daily local travels. Unless you are medically challenged.
Plenty of bike trials around me all the local 2 lane blacktop roads now have bike lanes, plus the metro, state and local parks. There is a lot of dirt roads in my area also.
Electric bikes have never been allowed on Mackinaw Island the only exception is if you are disabled. No motorized vehicles period for the public.

I live in a rural area, and still working in automotive engineering, own two pickup trucks, a 3-cylinder turbo SUV. a gas side by side, 4-wheeler etc.
I drive 32 miles to work one way that is why the small SUV commuter vehicle. We also have conventional bicycles with racks and bags to travel around with and we do a couple hundred miles a month when the weather is good.

Still not sold on EV's based on range, durability and cost.

That's why we're screwed. Rebuilding the rail network will take decades, if it can be done at all with the remaining fuel after we burn so much to run EVs, air conditioning, the internet, etc. Rail beats everything else motorized in miles per energy unit but there is still the initial expense in infrastructure. Waiting until we've burned our future in energy sinks and then trying to build rail with scraps will end very badly for us.
Most certainly if rail is economical, and it is, we will keep doing it.

Funny, all the railroad tracks that have been ripped up and paved so us Ebikers can go on them. So for whatever reason, those railroad tracks are no longer necessary or desired. I don't know why they just are. I can tell you the one by my house used to go to the Ford Lincoln plant but that's in Mexico now.

And it doesn't have to be a Ebike. These trails are making it possible to ride a bike or ebike to the next town over, rather than having to drive. Most normal bikers don't want to ride that far, that's why I love my Ebike.

This weekend I went on the Little Traverse Wheelway. 26 miles each way. I was EXHAUSTED!

You can't take a gas guzzler on these trails and you probably can't ride 52 miles on your regular bike. Ebikes are cool

So you believe NASA when they say we landed on the moon but you don't believe them when they say man made climate change is real?

Oh! You're a fake moon landing nut, but global warming is real, huh?

My ebike's faster and lighter than yours and probably has twice the range.. :D

Everyone's ebike is lighter and has twice the range. I got the starter bike. And in the next couple years the batteries have surely improved.

Actually, my brother and I went riding. He has the newer more expensive bike from the same store and when I only have 1 bar of energy left, he has 2. And that goes for most of the people I ride with. If I can go 25 miles, they maybe can go 35.

Why, how many miles can you go on yours? What's the brand? Give it a plug.

No I'm not a fake moon landing guy. I'm pointing out that you conspiracy theorists and gw deniers think NASA is lying to you about climate change. But you believe them when they say we landed on the moon? I find that fascinating about YOU.

Why are you believing NASA liars about us landing on the moon? If they would lie about global warming, why not a moon landing?

That is nice, we spent a considerable amount of time in the northern lower peninsula enjoying the area.
riding the UTV and ATVs on all the available trials mostly on the west side. Traverse city, Manistee, Ludington area. We bring our bicycles also and ride for exercise, not doing 52 miles in a day mostly 20-25. We also ride around the block at our main home which is 6.6 miles.
We have had a set of Giant Butte Mountain bikes since the early 1990's when first married. A couple years ago we upgraded to a pair of Specialized off-road bikes which have been great. We have even taken them to downtown Detroit on the riverwalk and Belle Isle. recently.

My neighbor does have an electric golf cart that sometimes we take to the local bar for a beer and a burger too.

That is cool that you are enjoying your electric bike that much. Hey, a couple weeks ago we were at Kensington for that art show and had our bikes and wagon for our purchases.

My cousin has a place in Roscommon. Very blue collar compared to where you're hanging out. But there are trails behind his home that supposedly go all the way up to Mackinaw. Are these the same trails you go on?

I got sick of riding the quad. My cousin asked if I wanted to go back and do it again I said no thanks. As a kid I would have never turning someone down to ride their quad all weekend on the trails. But after awhile it gets a little boring.

The brand? It's a Giant 29-inch mountain bike. Without all the e-bike stuff it weighs 26 lbs. With all the stuff it's 60-ish or so.

Motor is not light and neither is the battery conflagration. I have yet to see what voltage it cuts off at.

In the process of running it (the battery) down, I'm gonna run it until it dies to see what it will do.

We'll see how it goes vs. what I'm thinking it will.

We have a place in Irons, Dublin, Wellston area that I share with my sister and BIL. As we aged we went to a side by side and use it around our place and bring it north something, the woman uses it more than me.

There is some walking bike trial west of irons they are hard packed fine gravel. I don’t know if e-bikes are allowed? No motorized vehicle is posted at every road crossing or access point.

Here is an "EV" battery car story from 1893 in STL from Morgan st. driving around to Forest park and back. Ran out of charge.
***********

So one afternoon in June 1893 I backed out of my mother’s carriage house at the rear of 3014 Morgan Street in the first successful automobile that was built west of the Mississippi River and took a drive through the western part of the city. I had no license plates on the car, and no restrictions as to where and how I should drive, no traffic signs, safety glasses, stop & go signals to comply with, nor police officers to ball me out for making a U turn on Broadway. I never realized what a grand and glorious thing that was to be so free until I think about driving today. I try to get by each day without some mistake being made, such as passing up some obscure stop sign that really does no good but to get the driver into trouble. The machine was an open roadster driven by an electric motor which derived its power from storage batteries under the seat. The speed was about 12 to 15 miles per hour downgrade and about 8 to 9 miles uphill. To get on with my drive, after backing out of the carriage [house] down into the alley a friend got in and we drove out to Grand Avenue, then South on Grand to Olive Street, on which street cable cars ran in those days. A gripman saw us and stopped his cable train so that he could see us pass in front of him, this we did and on we went with a whirring sound of the gearing to Lindell Boulevard where we turned west for Forest Park. By this time several horse drawn vehicles were following the car but when I hit the downgrade to Vandeventer Avenue I outran them until I was almost to the park when they caught up again. We drove through the park until we came to Cottage Hill which we climbed easily and stopped in front of the Cottage, got out and had some refreshments while a crowd of patrons of the resort looked over the strange contraption making various comments. The return trip was just the same with the exception of the last two or three blocks from home we stalled and the crowd that gathered helped us the rest of the way by pushing. Many good rides were had in the little car after that first trip and never a word from the law against me for the way I drove.

I have owned a 2020 leaf for 3 years now. In that time I have put about 25k miles on it. I work 2 miles from my house and shop locally. When I need to travel....I don't use the EV. Too unpredictable. It is nice to be able to park the Rogue ( another Nissan) for most of the week and simply run around town in the battery buggy. My circumstances are unique however.

Keep in mind though, there's a co2 break-even point because the initial manufacturing of the EV creates a high co2 pollution, you would have to do x number of miles compared to an ICE vehicle to recoup that. So in your example of just tootling around now and then, an ICE equivalent car may have been more beneficial if saving co2 was the goal. An ICE vehicle would have to do x number of miles where it's co2 pollution matched the EV co2 manufacturing pollution.
