HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT SUCKER PUNCHES TEACHER KNOCKING HIM UNCONSCIOUS! - YouTube

1. "PITTSBURGH (AP) -- A teenager who sucker punched a schoolteacher in a downtown alley - an attack caught on surveillance video - apparently picked the victim at random, police and school officials said.

2. The attack happened last Thursday at about 3:30 p.m. The surveillance video, which Pittsburgh police used to make an arrest Tuesday,...

3. ....the 15-year-old suspect walking with several other youths past 50-year-old James Addlespurger.

4. Addlespurger, who teaches English at an arts high school, was walking in the other direction and did not appear to interact with the youths in any way.

5. The suspect suddenly approached Addlespurger and punched him in the head. The teacher fell hard onto a curb as the teen and the others continued walking.

6. ...there's something very terrifying about it," said Pittsburgh Councilman R. Daniel Lavelle, whose district includes downtown. "In the video it appears

he was laughing afterwards,

which is very disturbing."

7. ... taken to a juvenile detention center on a charge of simple assault but was not identified ...

8. City schools spokeswoman Ebony Pugh said the school system can't take any formal action against the suspect because the attack happened off school grounds and after the school day had ended.

9. The suspect attends a school for troubled youths ... there's no evidence the suspect, or his friends, knew Addlespurger or exchanged words with him."

I see no reason for this thug to be allowed to walk the earth.

I am very pro death penalty.... but this is NO way DP case.... not even close.

Though i would have zero issue with a life without the possibility of parole sentence.

sorry... this kind of thing is just human garbage.

"though i would have zero issue with a life without the possibility of parole sentence."

Sadly....there is no such sentence.

They get out.

Leopold and Loeb killed Bobby Franks just to see how killing felt.

1. It was a crime that shocked the nation, a brutal murder in Chicago in 1924 of a child, by two wealthy college students who killed solely for the thrill of the experience. Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb had first met several years earlier, and their friendship had blossomed into a love affair. Both were intellectuals—too smart, they believed, for the police to catch them.
For the Thrill of It: Leopold, Loeb, and the Murder That Shocked Chicago by Simon Baatz

2. It was, to oversimplify just a bit, the first great (nonpolitical) murder that prompted Americans to ask, "Why?" With so much given to them and such promising lives before them, how could "the boys," as they were called, have lured the innocent Franks into a rented car, beaten and strangled him, poured acid on his face and genitals, and dumped his body in a rural culvert?
They said they had killed Bobby Franks—Loeb's cousin—for "the thrill" of it. Leopold, Loeb, the "Thrill" of Murder, and the Crime of the Century - John A. Farrell (usnews.com)

3. Early in 1958, after 33 years in prison, Leopold was released on parole. Leopold moved to Puerto Rico to avoid media attention and married a widowed florist. He died in 1971.

One of the books I'm reading is David Stout's "The Night of the Devil," about Thomas Trantino....murdered two NJ State Police. Death Sentence....commuted to "life without the possibility of parole sentence."

He got out.

"Two teenage brothers have been charged in connection with the murder of 12-year-old Autumn Pasquale, who disappeared from her New Jersey home this weekend and was found in a recycling bin Monday night.

The boys, ages 15 and 17, were neighbors of Pasquale, who was last seen alive riding her bicycle on Saturday in her neighborhood in Clayton, N.J., police said today.

Police said that Pasquale's injuries were consistent with strangulation, and that there was no sign of sexual assault. They believe she was lured to the boys' home on Saturday."

Same question.
Here we are in 2012, and it is no longer safe for the children to venture out and play, but we as a society have since grown and matured over the years, and this as many stake a claim to now (or) do say with foolish pride or confusion these days I want to say..... Liars each and every politician who says we have been moving forward over the years (maybe in technology yes), when infact we have been disentigrating and moving into an evil relm that doesn't even come close to what we established for all whom once were free and peaceful Americans that were found in the most of us, and for whom once said that we are Americans instead of this African American, Mexican American, Chineese American etc. bunk.

In summary, we havn't been moving forward in society, but instead we have been moving backwards..

Not safe for even our children to go out and play anymore,,

Why doesn't this 'attempted murder' charge make him eligible for the death penalty??
Merely because he was not successful in causing death???
Jeezzz...and he tried so hard!!

Brings a gun.
Loaded.
Shoots the victim in the head.....

Didn't kill him because of a slight error in his aim?

So....?

And suing the victim???
I'd give him the death penalty for the hubris alone.

I would say that this cat either deserves the death penalty or never to see the light of day again (meaning his freedom), and this after being placed in Prison. It should be up to the judge in regards for the state, as to whether he wants to force the state to house such a messed up individual on the states budget and/or tax payers dime for that long afterwards.

The hanging gallows would be preferable to make a come back in these days and times, because people have become to laid back in thinking that they can do these things in which they do now, and then walk or live the life of riley afterwards in prison with their cohorts.

If you walk the streets at night you'd better have a weapon or at least a body guard. Someone who would take this fool around a dark corner and break pieces of his body. Just sayin' self protection.

Or involved in a kind of 'prison freedom' that they consider better than the death penalty.
They have their lawyers fight to have death penalty sentences commuted.

Prison should be prison.

And, the argument against leniency is here:

1. In 1982, a Rand study of prison inmates found that each committed between 187 and 287 non-drug crimes a year while out on the street. http://www.rand.org/pubs/reports/2007/R2814.pdf

2. In 1992, the ATF study found that criminals with at least three violent felony convictions committed some 160 crimes per year. https://www.ncjrs.gov/App/publications/Abstract.aspx?id=137208

Were I a prosecutor with video evidence of this crime in hand, I would charge the perp with aggrivated attempted murder; the aggrivating circumstance being the fall after the punch which looks to have nearly broken the victim's neck. I'd factor in callous disregard for life as well. It's a tough call at any rate. Condemning a minor to decades in prison is a real difficult call to make in many instances...I would hope, for most judges. It's a matter I suppose of whether or not proof can be established beyond reasonable doubt that the perp intended to kill versus perhaps a defense that he simply acted without forethought or premeditation or is perhaps mentally unable to do either. Regarding the death penalty as applicable to this case, no I do not believe it is warranted, and I feel fortunate to live in a nation where executions are reserved for the most disturbing crimes that (keyword) take a victim's life. This kind of wanton disregard for life really ticks me off though.

Sadly this reminds me of the injustice suffered by Pamela Lynchner who started Justice for All to defend victims' rights from a biased system that protects the criminal offenders.

After she was attacked in an attempt to kidnap and rape her, and most likely kill her, she not only had to go through the criminal proceedings to put her attacker in prison; but later had to spend $25,000 of her own money defending herself from a lawsuit by this inmate charging her with malicious prosecution! In addition to the legal hoops and wrangling, it took intense therapy for her to get out of the victimizing trauma this man caused her and her family by his criminal and legal abuse, and to arise from the ordeal as a dynamic spokesperson and legislative advocate for victims' rights and criminal justice reforms. To this day I will always respect the work that Pam and Joe Lynchner did to organize advocacy in govt, and to stand up for crime victims otherwise lost or traumatized by the burdensome system of criminal justice that punishes law-abiding victims and taxpayers many times over for the crimes of others.

What I learned is that we must work together to prevent and correct criminal abuses to BREAK the cycle, or else we all suffer collectively for the consequences after the fact. More punishment does not work; we need to address the causes by earlier intervention, treatment and correction, and require proportional restitution to the victims and society. Our legal system needs to facilitate corrections and restitution, and quit rewarding this crap!

Its like criminals literally have no emotions, yet the so-called justice system does more to protect them and instead punish the victim. Once they commit the crime whether its taking a life for selfish reasons or Ruining a childhood they'er only out to look out for themselves.

Because we aren't a barbaric society, despite some on the hard right preferring that we were.

Yet, you'd probably want to see the letter, and spirit, of the law upheld if you were the victim of some white-collar crime...

For me, innocent victims of violent crimes deserve no less stringent protection by the system.
Victims considered first. Perpetrators, far less.

Far less.

More consideration is given to perpetrators than victims.
This is an infraction of the promise of government.
It seems you don't agree.

I'd go further and lay the blame at the feet of a philosophy that fears confronting evil.
The following might appeal to you.

From Prager's "Still The Best Hope."

a. A distinguishing characteristic of Liberals and Leftists is an aversion to recognizing or acknowledging evil and its permutations, i.e., communism. On another level, it explains the Left’s dislike for capitalism, a system which produces winners and losers, a painful fact that the Left would rather not see.

b. Pacifism is the proclivity to appease evil and ignore the sad facts of life. It is a form of wishful thinking.
