Because it implies that gays aren't born gay and that they can leave their sick, sad lifestyle. There are thousands of ex-gays walking around who can attest that homosexuality is a choice, not an "orientation."

There are some who claimed to be "cured", got married, and were later found to be having gay sex. That's destructive to a family.
If it's a "choice", you could easily choose to have sex with men.

If two men fall in love with each other, that does no one any harm whatsoever.

No one was forcing the majority of gays in going to conversion therapy. The gays want to be shown how to change.
And by the way how grossly insensitive you are regarding same sex activities. You are with that attitude just as bad as someone who wants to help gays in their sexual orientation.

Thousands??? really? FYI, the ACLU is already gearing up for a court challenge on laws that ban polygamy, and they are using the exact same arguments that you gays are using for gay marriage. Fairness, equality, equal treatment under the law, being able to marry who you love, etc.

Why can't same sex monogamy and opposite sex monogamy both be legal, without forcing humans marrying animals to be legal?
