WHY is the DJIA crashing?

So why are there "unfunded entitlements?" Oh that's right, Boner walked away from Obama's deal. The compromise created a economic panel that will deal with it, so that addressing the problems in in your future, not your present.

Obama's "deal" didn't do anything to address unfunded entitlements. That you think it did says volumes about your grasp of the situation. Oh, and if you think another economic "panel" of the same folks that couldn't solve the problem now...is going to fix the problem in the future...you are as delusional as you are ill-informed.

Is social security & medicare fully funded?

THAT may be the dumbest question I've seen on here in quite some time...WOW!!!

Perhaps you missed the whole "Super Majority" thing the Democrats had in the House and Senate, OohPah. Combine that with control of the Oval Office and they could have voted out the Bush tax cuts YEARS ago. So why didn't they?
Because a few of them wouldn't vote with the majority of them. Its simple math, not that hard to understand. :cuckoo: Sorry but the Democratic party isn't like the Republican party, they allow their members to cast their own votes.

Quite simply? They realized that doing so would hurt the economy.

Right, because the Bush I and Clinton tax hikes completely destroyed the economy.
The right harps continuously on this bullshit claim that a tax increase will necessarily hurt the economy every time, in the face of clear historical factual evidence to the contrary! Its really amazing how ignorant you ***** are!
So tell me what's changed? Oh, that's right...ever since the Republicans took control of the House...people like you can blame them for things not getting done. The absurdity of that claim is readily apparent but then again...reality isn't really your thing...is it?

No, they were a big reason for things not getting done even before they took the House.

Wow...not quite sure how you're going to leverage that equity in the interstate highway system and our national forest but I do wish you luck with that.

Oh, I get it. Only the share of our nations DEBT can be discussed as if I have a specific share of it assigned to me - not our nation's assets. That's a fair comparison. Never mind the untold amounts of money I save every day by getting to travel on a relatively decent and safe highway without having to pay a fee to a private owner each time I use it - or the money I save every time I use a product that was harvested from the national forests that you and I own - or the money I save by not having to hire a private security team to protect me from foreign invaders o- that just doesn't count as an economic benefit that I enjoy in your one-sided analysis - I GET IT.

As for my becoming a citizen of another country? I'm one of the poor saps paying taxes, my confused liberal friend...you need more people like me...not less.

That's fine, if you leave, we don't need your taxes anymore.

But I thought you wanted everyone to pay more? You don't really know what you want...do you, OohPoo? Here's a hint...telling people who's views you don't agree with to leave the country is just as idiotic a request as when right wingers were doing it with liberals back when Bush was President. It just makes you look silly.

Not sure about Medicare, but for SS, it IS presently fully funded, as there is a net positive balance in the SS Trust fund.

It was more than just a "few" Democrats, OohPoo. So kindly explain to me why so many Democrats felt getting rid of the Bush tax cuts was a bad idea? Were THEY "ignorant *****" as well?

But I thought you wanted everyone to pay more?

Everyone who enjoys the benefit of being a U.S. citizen and who has sufficient income to levy a tax on, yes.
You don't really know what you want...do you, OohPoo?
Once again - speculation about my emotional state. Its becoming clear that Republicans are the party of feewing.
Here's a hint...telling people who's views you don't agree with to leave the country is just as idiotic a request as when right wingers were doing it with liberals back when Bush was President.

Excuse me? Aren't you the one claiming your share of the debt is in excess of the economic benefits of getting to be a U.S. citizen? Sorry, I just assumed you wanted to seek higher financial benefit - MY BAD - guess I was speculating on your emotions, what a hypocrite I am!

Does that make a silly argument any less silly?

I asked you a direct question asshole, Are they fully funded??

If he'd really wanted to reform entitlements then why didn't he do it when the Democrats controlled the House, Senate and the White House?

Gee, maybe because he didn't "really want" it and instead was offering it as part of a larger compromise to get part of what he did want?

Do you right ***** have no clue at all about the process by which this nation was founded? You think it was easier for a bunch of slave owning states and a bunch of free states to come to a compromise? Its part of the democratic process. Its a part Republicans do not participate in, unless you consider not allowing the U.S. economy to fall backwards by 300 years to be a compromise.

Yes, and you will start peeing all over yourself & have to wash those urine soaked tennis shoes again.

Ah, yes...and who is it again that determines what "sufficient income" is?

As for me claiming anything about the cost/benefits of being a US citizen? Sorry, my confused liberal friend...that was you...trying to convince us all that we should be happy with the mess our government is at the moment because we can drive on the interstate and go to Yellowstone National Park. Talk about someone trying to "muddy" an issue! The interstate system is great and I love our National Park system but that doesn't change the fact that our Federal Government is bloated, inefficient and needs to be downsized.

Social Security yes, fully funded to the tune of $2.4 trillion dollars

Medicade not enough funding to keep it current.

Homeland Security? No funding at all..total expense every year

Iraq nation buidling? No funding at all..total expense every year

AFghanistan nation building ? No funding at all..total expense every year

We're NOT borrowing money for social security, Kids.

We're paying down the debt we owe to the workers of America when we pay them their social security/

Aw.. Still having a hard time with the fact your boyking is a ******* *****?

Who do you think? (Hint: its the same kind of entity that determines what homestead exemption limits are set at)

Uhh, no. You are the one who initially brought up the idea that I have a "share" of the U.S. debt - and then promptly refused to acknowledge I also have a "share" of the assets of the U.S.

I don't really give a shit if you're happy or not, to tell you the truth.

???? OK, did I ever say it did change that fact? ??? Not sure why you'd think that, considering I've already mentioned that we need to cut spending. Can you READ the WORDS that I type, or are you just stupid?

Only one problem with that whole "debt we owe the workers" thing...since the average Social Security recipient takes three times what he or she paid in...aren't we in fact paying them a whole lot MORE than what they PREPAID for? Hence the need for Social Security reform?

I have increased the size and boldened the text of the best part of your post.

I asked you a direct question asshole, Are they fully funded??

I want you to think long and hard about this...we're talking about UNFUNDED ENTITLEMENTS. Now give me your best guess. (eye roll)

I don't know anyone whose social security check has bounced. Have you?

Gee, then why was it again that President Obama said he couldn't guarantee that Social Security checks would go out if the debt ceiling wasn't raised? He wasn't LYING to us was he? Nah, he'd NEVER do that!
