Zone1 Why is it so tough to believe in God?

Is it because:
  • Lack of belief we are lovable
  • Lack of belief we are cared for
  • Lack of belief God is an active agent in our lives
  • Lack of belief we have a reason for being
What blocks people from believing in God? Why is it so hard to believe?
Lack of evidence there is a God.

the corruption of all three desert religions - for 1: false commandments in particular used to persecute and victimize the innocent found in all three desert bibles.

the true events of the 1st century are meant as the new beginning, liberation theology, self determination those organized religions do all they can to prevent for the fruition of hope and freedom that time represented.

It starts with the two-year-old egocentric mentality that they are the ONLY thing of worth in the universe.

From there it is just an act of rebellion because to believe in a higher power that has a moral set of values that should be a basis for how you behave in life is anathema to them.

They want what they want, when they want it, and they want to take from those who have more because "Why shouldn't I have more?" is the question, and the reply is, "You can, but you have to put out effort to achieve it."

And that last part is what kills their entire moral argument.

I personally couldn't care less if they don't believe in a Deity. But I also won't tolerate their Marxist/Communist/Socialist ways.

Don't believe, I don't care. But do NOT take from ME because you are some narcissist, ego-driven POS.

My two coppers.

I believe too deeply which is sometimes a problem as it leaves me vulnerable to the abuses of others. My dad gets angry at me, he is more aggressive, former soldier and all. My mom is polite, thoughtful, a role model in that she brought out the best in me.

It weird, because if someone is threatening to harm someone I love, even my dog, I would not think twice about defending them without restriction. When it comes to myself I feel I have to be polite, as that is what G-d demands of me, and pray I am protected.

Sometimes we can only hope G-d sends us an angel to defend us because we aren't the type to be too aggressive in our own defense (within reason of course).

Sometimes to believe you have to be at the end of your rope and then you are rescued. Sometimes you just sense it. Your experiences remind you of the good around us.

You know who I really envy? Mother Theresa. Imagine doing everything to help the poorest. Yes she tried to convert people but she did so via actions not just words. To love G-ds creation to such a degree, completely astounding.

(Eph. 2:8-9) "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast."

Faith in Jesus Christ, in God, comes from God alone. If He doesn't give it, you don't get it. If He doesn't give it, you can't produce it.

Many pretenders will say they have it, but they don't. And it doesn't take long to see that they don't.

And if you have it, it's not hard to believe. In fact, it is impossible to not believe.

Besides, believing the devil is more fun. :dev3:

What blocks people from believing in God? Why is it so hard to believe?
None of the above.

Its just an outrageous, extraordinary claim. And not a shred of evidence exists for it.

Most people dont believe in gods for the same reasons they dont believe in fairies and unicorns and leprechauns.

The question is better turned around: a lot of people probably believe in gods because they WANT there to be gods.

There is evidence. Why choose not to believe it, have faith in it?
Not a single shred. Please dont go down that road, it's dishonest.

And faith is belief without evidence.

When you guys lie and say there IS evidence, it makes one rightfully wonder if your faith isnt a bit dubious and shaky.

Do you want an honest answer?

What blocks me from believing is that I find the whole notion a bit silly.

It's not difficult to believe in God, what's difficult is when extremist of all denominations try to convince you that their version & belief system is the correct one.

One thought I have about rushing to defend others, but not oneself: As one of the oldest in the family, I grew up knowing I could take more than the little ones. That may shape the thinking of older siblings as they grow to adulthood, that feeling we can take more than someone else. I worked at not becoming a protective parent, rather worked on showing the girls I had confidence (that after we discussed alternatives that might resolve the issue) they could choose one of the alternatives discussed, and work it out on their own.

In many situations God appears to stand back and allow us to forge through on our own. That makes us a stronger, more confident person, which cautions me about rushing too quickly to another's rescue. Try to be on hand, which gives confidence. Often, that is all that is needed.

I thought it was the wiring in our brain using belief as a survival mechanism.
