Why Is Everything Always Trump's Fault?

So the only way to solve the issue is by bankrupting the elderly and the disabled? That makes perfect sense... NOT!
WTF are you talking about?

Trumps plan to make benefits tax free will give seniors a short term benefit but impact the solvency of SS long term.

Because his proposed changes will have long term consequences to the solvency of Social Security.
No, they actually won't, income taxes on Social Security income are accounted into the General Fund just like all other income taxes and thus have no direct effect on SSA revenue.
Seniors today may see some short term benefits but there will not be funds for future recipients
It's a separate problem requiring a set of solutions addressing SSA revenue.

So in other words forcing the elderly and disabled to pay taxes in order to receive the benefits correct? I was just using the term bankrupt figuratively.

Tagging JohnDB since he seems to know the economy really well that he could possibly help me make sense of it.

It's not really that difficult to grasp.

You pay payroll taxes at the rate of 6.2% pre-tax your employer matches that for a total of 12.4% (up to a maximum income cap currently about $168K per year), the money collected is booked to the SSA to pay out of benefits to SS recipients (both retirees and SS disability).

In the past the SSA has run surpluses (it paid out less than it took in), the surpluses were incorporated into the Federal General Fund for other Federal Expenses and the Treasury issued Treasury Bonds to the SSA matching those surpluses.

As of 2010 the SSA began running an operating deficit (paying out more in benefits than it took in) and thus began to draw down its stock of Treasury Bonds, current estimate is that by 2035 this stock of Treasury Bonds will be depleted and the SSA will not have sufficient revenue to pay out promised benefits, which is why this is an SSA REVENUE problem.

Forcing people to pay income taxes on SSA benefits which were already derived from taxes is an issue of FAIRNESS. Income taxes on Social Security income are NOT earmarked for future SSA benefit payouts (as some here would have you believe) they just go into the general fund and are spent just like everything else in the general fund.

Taxing SS benefits was a way of cutting benefits while claiming they were getting increased.

It's stupidity 101.
Of course cutting off the taxes on SS benefits is the ONLY right thing to do.

Taxing 401k benefits is fine....untaxed money that grew tax deferred is supposed to pay taxes. That's to be expected.

But SSI and SSR payments? Get over yourselves already. It's nothing in the grand scheme of things. Especially by people on fixed incomes who could use the boost.

Look what they're blaming him for now. I'll admit that I'm not really good with money and math due to my disabilities, but they're already blaming him for what's going to possibly take place in 2035 and he's only going to be in office for four years. Good grief! That's all that I would need to know to know that these people are delusional. As apparently even if it's before or after he's in office it's ALL his fault!! 🙄

You have to realize that the democrat cult will always blame the republican cult and not blame their own.
I have no need of either cult but the democrat cult is actually worse then the republican one

It just seems like something else to blame Trump for.

THAT is why I and many others ARE NOT repunks.

Not really, he didn't even put forward a reasonable plan to address the problem, he didn't create the problem but as POTUS he didn't lift a finger to do anything about it either. I believe if he puts forth the common sense "fixes" necessary to ensure solvency until 2075 during his upcoming term (lift income caps on withholdings, incrementally increase withholdings and means testing) he'll garner substantial Democrat support.

I never said that, nor is the "it has also been happening for sixty years" assertion true, SS has only been running operating deficits since 2010, fixes were implemented during the Reagan Administration in the 1980's but those were never designed to last forever, no administration since then has done anything of substance to address the problem.
The fixes were supposed to last until the early 2070's. The estimated growth per year never materialized. Plus, they added more and more to the system which includes corruption.

Biden is and was a total disgrace .. Democrats simply cannot take responsibility for their dimwit votes and support for him so their cowardice and maniacal hate gets directed towards Trump.

Sure .. it's illogical and pathetically stupid but alas that is the Democrat way..

.. all you can do is laugh at the silly headed buggers .. 😄

The democrats remind me of this scene from Ghostbusters the way they've been reacting to Trump's win. Mass hysteria for sure. 🙄

Anybody that actually believed that had to be dropping LSD, it was a short-term stopgap fix implemented over a very long schedule, nothing more but at least Reagan and O'Neil actually did SOMETHING.

Because everything was Biden's fault you said. Who caused inflation for example? You think Biden did? Dude, Trump lied to you constantly during the campaign. Now every USMB Republican is saying "they all lie". LOL.

Ron DeSantis and Chris Christie Call Out Trump for Adding to Federal Debt

"He owes it to you to defend his record where they added $7.8 trillion to the debt that set the stage for the inflation that we have."

And Bill Maher

The country’s current “inflationary spiral” can also be traced back to COVID-19, Maher said, describing the trillions of dollars the government issued throughout the pandemic. This, he noted, should not be pinned on President Joe Biden, but his predecessor, former President Donald Trump.

Biden was a big part of inflation and I wasn't a part of the capital thing.

Just another thing that Trump always seems to get blamed for. 🙄
