The latest crisis is a housing & rent crisis in Boston. There sure do seem to be a lot of crises lately. Why is the gap between the haves and the have nots, continuing to get worse?

Why is the middle class (white and blue collar) getting squeezed at every turn?

And this isn't a Team R versus Team D issue. Both political parties are responsible.

It's not political, the crises are media-created sensationalism to get more viewers. Ignore the media and the crises go away.

Wrong answer.
Highlights. The average monthly rent in the U.S. in 2024 was $1,535, up 5.11% year-over-year (YoY).

  • If trends continue, the average renter will pay $19,801 in 2025 ($1,650/month).

Don't care, I own my own home and land.

No doubt, that's part of it, and the democrats are responsible. But there's more going on with sky high rent, than illegal aliens.

Virginia Rent by Year

Average monthly rent in Virginia is $1,950 in 2025; for a 2BR, average rent is $1,750.

  • 2025 FMR for a 2BR apartment in Virginia is $1,743 per month; a 1BR is $1,527.
  • Compared to the 2025 national average 2BR FMR, Virginia apartments are 4.31% more expensive.

I suspect NOtVA accounts for the high average......NOtVA is also full of illegals and .gov workers.

You are part of the problem. You care about yourself. (Like most of the country)

My mortgage is long paid off. You might say I'm on easy street. But I do care about my kids, one of whom will likely have to pay rent within the next few years.

I didn't breed the rest of the country and I sure as hell didn't sleep with their mommies, so let someone else feed and house them.

You could always rent out a room.....I bet if you did you would charge out the ass for it like everyone else.

Because the US (and now even the whole Western World) express themselves in extremes. FAR right, FAR left. LOVE or HATE. WITH us or AGAINST us. And everything is an ICONIC example and the MOST INFLUENTIAL of its time. The whole village, the whole town, the whole city, the whole state, the whole country was IN SHOCK!

Why is everything a crisis? Well, we can't call it just another good ole fashioned day at Dollywood. If that it is what it is instead, the rides are all broken, the food tastes terrible, and there are no shows to catch and enjoy. :( :( :(

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. Oh yeah, every toilet there would overflow whenever it's flushed too.

LOL....The local online rag has been fermenting discontent over our local library "crisis" for going on three years now.

I wrote a response that if the antagonists (Catholics and liberals) can't get along then just shut it down and turn it into apartments. Talk about dropping an H-Bomb on them!

So many people agreed with me that they went silent for a couple of months but now they are back at it again. Seems as if the Catholics have the upper hand for now. :laughing0301:

It has absolutely nothing to do with Trump, you moron - and it has everything to do with the past 30 years of policy by politicians of BOTH political parties. Started with NAFTA. Ross Perot warned against it. NAFTA started sending good jobs, overseas. Now, throw in the government scam of guaranteeing college loans for everyone and driving up education costs. Now throw in an open border and 10, 12, 15 million illegals let in who compete for housing. Supply reduced.... Demand up..... econ 101 says that prices go up. Now don't forget the covid lockdowns - that one is on the Democrats....supply Chain disruptions.

Get your TDS under control.... Trump's trying to fix things!

Convincing the masses that there are endless crises is the best way to keep them anxious and emotional. The more anxious and emotional they are the less rational they become.

The primary purpose of government is to protect its citizens. So if the government in conjunction with the media keeps the citizens fearful, its only natural that those citizens will clamor for more government to protect them. Like you said, this isn't a Team R or a Team D issue, and should this government ever come under control of Team I (Independent), it would more than likely be no different.

Team I is in charge now.
