Why is Christopher Columbus credited for discovering AMERICA?

th

That may not necessarily be true.

They may have pushed out or committed aggressive genocide on another race that colonized what we call the Americas first.

Come on, man. We all know the Atlanteans were actually ETs.

We know now that Columbus was among the last explorers to reach the Americas, not the first. Five hundred years before Columbus, a daring band of Vikings led by Leif Eriksson set foot in North America and established a settlement.

Vikings did not come back and say……Look what we found! Leading to a migration of millions of Europeans.

Columbus did

Yes, Columbus did discover the Western Hemisphere for the rest of the world and for People of the Western Hemisphere he revealed to them that they were not alone.
My question is, do the Democrats hate Columbus because he was European?
If Columbus was African, would they still hate him?
Do the Democrats use Columbus as a political tool to fan the flames of racial hatred?

Correction they became the ETs after the great war that brought about their destruction many thousands of years ago.

What???

You thought those UFOs came across light years of empty space at the speed of light?

Easier to believe there was an advanced civilization that had bases or colonies on the Moon and Mars than that and that they still live among us and we don't even realize it because they're in charge.

Why is he credited when he surely didn't discover it?

Obviously there were people who migrated there first, and then some think the ancient Chinese or others had sailed there, then hundreds of years before Colombus, the Vikings had made settlement in the North,
but you have to understand History and understand the times.

Life hundreds and thousands of years ago was not the same as it is today. Today we have information at our fingertips, and at the very least, magazines , tv etc.

Just because Vikings discovered the New World earlier, that doesn't mean very many people knew about it. many people in those days past never stepped outside their own village and news was delivered by word of mouth for the most part to the masses. Plus a lot of information was lost and forgotten for that reason, and simply becoming myth.

So what Columbuse's voyage did was create a wider knowledge of the "new world" and he is accredited with that. It's just a historical fact.

Then why Columbus? Why teach that in school?
Even though the Vikings were here first, that knowledge didn't result in understanding what was here or spur growth. If it had then, Europe would have widespread knowledge of America. Columbus' accidental discovery of the continent while trying to get to China proves it.

Later Amerigo Vespucci, explored and wrote widely distributed stories about what later bacame known as America. Which included both North and South Americas.

What I learned in school was a Viking discovery that led to nothing. Columbus discovered it again and that led to others exploring and later settling America. It was a progression. Dropping particular points of history accomplishes nothing.

Precisely. The Viking "discovery" was merely anecdotal. They found a place, and tried briefly to set up shop. They had know inkling of the totality of what they had "Discovered". Just more land, as far as they were concerned. And while they failed to grasp the broader implications of what they stumbled upon; they also failed socially, and technologically. They had no reliable resupply, both of goods, and men to defend their new settlement. They quite literally lwereeft out to dry.
As opposed to Columbus's efforts he had the advantage of a sophisticated logistics system, and a goal that was well funded.

Pretty big difference between Columbus, and the Vikings. And history has borne that out...

Democrats teach people how to hate. They did it after the end of slavery and they're doing it today.

If the right was as evil as the Democrats claim, the right would have killed them before they even had a chance to infect our kids with wokism.
But because most Americans are decent human-beings....Democrats take advantage of them.

look even though you know,i will play along in case you actually dont know......post 35
I may have known it, but dont recall that memory,,publc schools and all..

in the end I dont really care that much what happened hundreds of yrs ago since I not only have no control over it but also how could I having a 20-21st century mindset even comprehend what they thought based on how they lived,,,

thats the problem with morons complaining about slavery,,

judging a 18th century person/culture using a 21st century mindset is just stupid and moronic,,

So if somebody discovered God before me...I can't discover God as well?

We learn about columbus because it's OUR history.

- Columbus discovered America (there was land over here and the earth was not flat).

- The pilgrims followed columbus' path to the "new world".

- We descended from the pilgrims.
