And I hear the break room has a craft brewery. Oh, they have the life. They get the use of one the company's fleet of Yugos from what I hear.![]()
There are certain criteria that we use, to merge or otherwise lock threads, to keep too many threads from proliferating on the same topic.

There are nany different angles, facets, issues to focus on in this case. Lumping them all together makes it hard to keep the topics separated ... but they can probably be reduced.

Negative, in fact I find that insinuation very insulting. What you are asking, is, to essentially quash speech you don't want to see. . .
Is that it?![]()
....and then, quite possibly, four more years after that.I mean there is a year and a half of this crap to go yet.
Become a mod and see how merging threads suck....especially when you work for free.Negative, in fact I find that insinuation very insulting.
It just seems to me that 35 Trump threads (I quit counting at 35) on the active topics page is a bit much.
Maybe Trump needs his own sub-forum given the obsession (left or right) with him.

or 8 or 12 who knows?....and then, quite possibly, four more years after that.
Sure seems easy enough for the mods when I post a thread. They're ALWAYS quick to move, lock or delete. There are certain criteria that we use, to merge or otherwise lock threads, to keep too many threads from proliferating on the same topic.
It is not our job to keep track of every thread.
If this is annoying you, and you see it as a problem, because you keep seeing them, help a brother out, find them, link them, and report them.
There is several criteria we use to merge, or lock repeat content.
First, it must be with in three days of each other.
Second, they have to be in the same sub-forum. If one thread is in Breaking News, and another is in politics, we don't move threads across sub-forums, just to merge them. Nor do we lock threads, just because there is a discussion going on in some other part of the forum.
Are the conversations identitcal, truly? If they are not, merging them will be very confusing, because merges integrate posts by date and time, it is best to only merge posts that are happening near the same time.
What you are asking, is, to essentially quash speech you don't want to see. . .
Is that it?

So to recap? If you find two threads, that are within 48 to move 72 hours of each other, and they are in the same sub-forum, and the topic they are addressing, IS IDENTICAL, report them both, WITH LINKS to them, and yes, we will do something about them.
I definitely don't disagree with that, but monkeying around with the inherent structure of the forum is administrative work, not moderator work, and the basic governing philosophy at this place, seems to be, for the members, moderators, and admin, to put in as little effort as possible.Maybe Trump needs his own sub-forum given the obsession (left or right) with him.
Perhaps you and basq. should collaborate and give a USMB Ted Talk on how to violate the clean start rule like old pros?Sure seems easy enough for the mods when I post a thread. They're ALWAYS quick to move, lock or delete.
Must be where the old Paul-Bots go to die.I definitely don't disagree with that, but monkeying around with the inherent structure of the forum is administrative work, not moderator work, and the basic governing philosophy at this place, seems to be, for the members, moderators, and admin, to put in as little effort as possible.
Keep in mind, we still have a sum-forum named, "tea-party."![]()

Libs are having too much fun to limit themselves to just one thread

I always wanted a VW Thing PU that was not made of old Schlitz beer cans. I swear you could watch them rust. The Yugo was a good simple design; it took a major effort by dumbass socialists to fuck it up. It could have been the modern VW bug, cheap, reliable, and exportable. There is a book on its history around here somewhere, but I don't remember which pile it's in.

The Yugo: The Rise and Fall of the Worst Car in History
The Yugo was a small car made in the former nation of Yugoslavia that survives in the American consciousness as the ultimate automotive…www.librarypoint.org
I still think such a project is possible, just not in eastern Europe; maybe Mexico or Brazil.
