If you want to know the reasons why Trump look no farther than Victor Davis Hansen for the answer

Trump was always on the winning side of the issues but in 2024 repubs mastered the art of getting out the vote

And that suggests that maybe we can live with the mail in absentee ballot

We’ll see

I think it's more simple than that.

People finally started to personally feel the pain of democrat rule and finally decided to get out and vote in significant numbers.

Except they didn't.

Trump got less votes this time than he got last time.

The problem is that between voter suppression, pulling back on mail-in ballots, and the fact that Harris really didn't have time to organize a campaign (but still did good with what she had), Trump got back in because of Apathy and the media gaslighting them into thinking he was inevitable, anyway.

The pain was from inflation which was a result of covid and a shot down of the world economy followed by trillion of stimulus spending that both Trump and Biden did to keep the economy afloat,

Let’s just be honest.

This economic “disaster that Trump has been campaigning against will not change much but he will spin it and brag about it as the best ever and his supporters will follow suit. Just watch. Yall will all of a sudden care about the stock market that’s been at all time highs for years, GDP and Unemployment and Job growth and wages which are doing better then most if not all major countries in the world. This is all a reality right now. Trump is going to find the talking points and then start hyping. That’s what he does. Smoke and mirrors

That seems a bit far fetched considering it looks like Trump is going to win fewer votes than in 2020.

In a narrow election, you a make a case about almost any issue being the deciding factor. That said, inflation was clearly the biggest knock on the democratic campaign.

It's truly distressing to me that people's view on the economy, which supposedly is described by objective measure, is so skewed by their political persuasion.

I have not seen that report and I suspect you are mistaken

Look at the vote tallies yourself.

There was clearly a significant drop in participation this year.

You should be skeptical of anyone being too certain about what happened in this election. It will take weeks/months for the proper data to be analyzed and published. Until then, it's mostly just people who want to push their opinion as truth.

Yes, but without question the GOP voter turnout engine, in particular the early voters, was a major factor in addition to her saying "I wouldn't do anything different".

An open border, weak economy with wage competition against such people coupled with mass inflation and wars around the world. Compared to Trumps four years. The voters had for the first time a direct comparison to someones policies who used to be in the W.H compared to the policies of those currently in the W.H.

The challenge would be if the GOP could get the vote out, thanks in part to Elon I'm sure who brought his and his friends problem solving ingenuity to the table; the honest polls showed provided this outcome before the election. Don't underestimate Trump getting RFKs endorsement and his expanding appeal to younger voters, especially men who just want opportunity and not have to compete with foreign labour in their own country.

Trump has a far stronger coalition now than in 2016. He happened to have a weaker candidate too.

Do you have a link?

I think you are mistaken
There's only a few dozen websites tracking the vote tallies. Surely you don't need to be spoon fed.

Try paying attention.

Trump 2024

Popular vote72,623,882

Trump 2020

Popular vote74,223,975[

Now, I am going to Cavaet to say that they are still tabulating votes. So trump MIGHT get above his 2020 number, but probably not by much.

Given most of the uncounted votes are from Urban areas, I suspect Kamala will narrow the popular vote gap.

In 2000, it took more than a week to realize Gore had won the popular vote.

Ok

I’ll keep my powder dry on that for the time being

But I suspect the democrats were prevented from cheating as much in 2024 and that explains to vote drop for harris

Again, the vote counts aren't complete yet. I made the same mistake you are making.

This is true, but I think what we can tell is that Harris lost because she failed to turn out the vote the way Biden did, not because Trump did any better. Biden got 13 million more votes than Harris did. Maybe that number will shrink when California finishes tabulating the Urban areas.

One of the refrains I've heard is "I don't like either one of them."

So a lot of people stayed home.

Now this isn't a knock on Harris. Harris was given a nearly impossible task of picking up from Biden and organizing a campaign and message within three months.

I also think that Biden and Harris did a very poor job of touting the economic successes. Under his watch, 16 million new jobs were created—an Amazing number. But it barely got talked about because talk about inflation drowned it out.

I specifically said that vote counts aren't complete.

But most of the outstanding vote is from Urban Areas in California. I don't think Trump is going to pick up the 2 million votes there to make up his 2020 totals.

Harris might narrow the gap, but she won't overtake Trump in the popular vote.

So, um, horray, Trump finally won a popular vote against a candidate who had to tap in at the last minute.

Harris could not articulate her accomplishments with Biden and even worse, she could not articulate what and how she was going to do differently. All she had to go on was hatred for Trump.

It’s the Democrats own damn fault. At one point, their arrogance was such that they thought they could run Biden for another term.

I think the repubs were much better at preventing democrat cheating in this election
