Why does the Rightwing Conservatives Hate Unions?

The animosity is chilling, but never the less consistent and irritating. Maybe we could actually have a discussion without the name calling, and find out exactly what is the right cons problem with Unions.

It seems to me Unions are a role model for what Capitalism stands for. To exploit the corporation for fair living wages & benefits, in exchange for an honest days work. And to get a fair working package a negotiation takes place and a contract written explaining what each side expects from the other side (labor vs. business). Nothing is hidden.

Capitalism allows workers to negotiate their own wage & benefits as individuals or as a collective, with the idea of extracting the maximum from the employer for each hour of work performed. The employer hires as many people as he wishes, from those that will work for him, and exploits workers for the lowest wages & benefit packages he can get for his hour of labor.

So the Union member or private sector worker gives an honest days work, and the employer gives an honest days wages & benefits.

So why do rightys hate Unions? They support America and prefer capitalism?

Simple, there using my money to pay their salaries.
I prefer to have control over where it goes.
Federal, state, local governments are broke.

Wheres the money gonna come from?
You want to give a donation, have at it.

You run up your credit cards, then expect others to pay?
Live within your means, federal as well as states need to
do that. You dont pay your bills, go to jail.

A union is NOT necessary to negotiate a fair wage. As in other industries and
jobs, "collective" agreements bring strife, unfair tactics, bullies, corruption
(like Jimmy Hoffa), political lobbying, strong arm tactics, false sense of job
security, protections for bad employees, unions running the state not
elected officials, and finally communism.

Go to Wisconsin and march, get on TV, make a big deal, and show the
rest of us just how much stupidity exists in liberal land.

I honestly believe most public employees give an honest effort. It really disturbs me when I hear people run down their neighbor. We all need to make a living, and there needs to be an ass for every seat. If everyone became a hedge-fund manager, there would be no 'funds'...someone has to plow the snow at 2AM so commuters can get to work at 8AM...these are not glory jobs, but they are necessary. I prefer the snowplow driver and wing man plowing past my parked cars has done it for years. I don't want some guy taking a 'crash' course...literally...LOL

We are not running down our neighbors. It is the Unions they belong to. If they really want to make a statement and stand with the rest of us, they will RENOUNCE their Unions for what they are doing RIGHT NOW against the rest of Us.

Unions drive up costs.

First they demand much more pay for workers. When a company is forced to make that pay, often, they can't afford to, so they have to raise prices on the services they're offering. That's one of the reasons why Wal Mart can have its low prices, is the lack of Unions. If Wal Mart was to get unionized, then the prices would drastically increase, perhaps even double, and they'd lose a lot of their business.

I don't know that corruption would necessarily follow, but I'd hope that at the very least, we would only have to pay for it once.

The public unions are dishonest and corrupt by design and never should have existed.

Public employee's are hard working, just like any group of private workers. It's not a class issue at all, and if it was public employee's would higher on the ladder anyway. Both sides have bad apples too, the difference being the private sector can fire theirs. That and the fact that the private sector is not run by a power hungry union monopoly.

walmart has such "low prices" because they sell chinese made garbage. i am completely convinced that walmart looks and smells like a walmart.

that is exactly it, unions force companies to pay an inordinate amount of money for their laborers services. unions halls want more and more for their people to do less and less. unions are great for those who belong to them, but they screw the rest of who have to pay for their ever increasing wages, benefits packages, and pensions. my friend, who is a tsa, was just boasting about how she gets 16 days sick pay and 27 days vacation pay. the next day i was informed that i needs to fly across the country; i looked for affordable airfare and found that for 2 tickets it is $900+. She gets tons of paid time off, and airline customers have to pay out their (you know where) because of it. and don't even get me started on construction unions...

Right leaning folks are wary of public unions because they are a monopoly. Government by definition has a monopoly on the use of force. Government unions supply labor to the government and work in tandem as parasites on the private sector.

The tea party? You mean the people during the health care debate a few summers ago who were wildly supporting tantrums. They were even instructed on HOW to throw them. Tea Partiers were transported on buses provided by lobbyists to town hall meetings and given a written harassment strategy on how to shout down legislators, drown out other citizens, and disrupt town hall meetings. The tea partiers even boasted they were using Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals as their tactics.
