Why do you wish to live in the 18th and 19th centurys?

Why do you wish to take us back to the 19th century? Life was much harder, people had lower quality of life and America was no where near the power we're currently...Without government regs, laws and investment this is exactly where we're going.

They like it better when men could beat women and children could be forced to work 12 hours a day. Among a hundred other heinous things.

Back to your transition team, Donald!

No paved roads, rum used as an anesthetic and white slave holders demanding freedom.

Imagine that, no anestegia during the Civil War. They just cut your leg off while you listened to the saw and felt in your leg. White slave holders demanding freedom, one of those karmatic anti-matter matters.

Good times indeed.

Why do you hate white people so much? You can always go back to the land of your ancestors. You know. Africa. The place where you blacks invented anestegia.

You're new to Earth. Learn a little something about other people and then try to rejoin the human race. Your racism is off the charts O.J.

I'm a white male. You on the other hand see the world through 1849 colored glasses.

Says the pussy crying for a Civil War but who is unwilling to actually fight in it.
Punk.

Your lies aside, lets not forget that the dems are the party of slavery and segregation. Remember......they beat slaves.

The 19th century was certainly an exciting time to be living in.

All of the ideas that were around then, good or bad, became popular in the 20th century and still have an effect upon us today. Nationalism, Marxism, abolitionism, going back to nature (ecology) and so on.

The poetry and the arts were affected by the new ideas, even if the domain of the well-to-do. Of course folk art existed as well, but was not considered "high art".

Steam locomotives existed, as did steam buses, and electric cars were popular by the end of the century. Telegraph, photography, and even the telephone. Recorded music on wax cylinders, early films and moving pictures.

And the Haitian Revolution at the beginning of the 19th century (started at end of the 18th century) was also an important event.

Thank god for the 21st century and thank god for the safetynet.

To hell with liberterianism and anti-governmentism!!!

I don't give a damn what you think of me because I believe in civilization and you're nothing more than animals.

How I love it when those like you melt into a puddle of drool...

1. Donald Trump is not Libertarian nor is he anti-Government... In fact Donald Trump is for expanding infrastructure which is what you want... He is for building new roads, airports and rail systems, so what is your fuss about?

2. The Amish life is kind of nice... You know your neighbors and have strong family values... It might not be for you but I am willing to bet the Amish are a hell of a lot smarter than you...

3. The 18th and 19th centuries have their best and worst moments... Had it not been for the 18th century you would be still under English, French or Spanish rule depending on the region you live in, so let not knock the past too hard or do because you hate it so much anyway...

Final part:

You keep on writing about Libertarians being in charge and ruining your life so please tell the names of those Libertarians trying to take us back to the 18th and 19th centuries because I have yet to see one!?!

You fear that one day you will awake to the reality the Government owes you nothing and your cushy government tit money will be gone and to you that is taking you back to the 18th and 19th century... You fear the day you have to put in a honest day of work and earn that dollar because you have had it so well with the government tit, so now you want to write about how Libertarians are trying to take you back to the 18th and 19th century...

I say live your life but don't ask me to pay for it... You want to abort your unborn child, well that is your damn choice but not on my dime!

If you want to be married to your same sex partner, well by all means but you have no right to force a church to marry you...

You want to smoke pot, well then inhale but don't ask me to pay for it...

You want to eat and you can do something to earn a buck, well then why should the government give you a dime if you can work!?!

No, what you want little Trot is the government tit and everyone to pay for you to stay suckling on it, and now you fear it might be ending, and if it does then good for America because Social and Corporate welfare has been a waste of good money!

Now little Trot no one is turning the dials of time backwards and you will not be forced to eat potato soup with leeks in it while being brutally forced to live the life as a Serf under the Czar...

Now hurry and give me those names of those Libertarians trying to turn back time, and if not then little Trot dry your eyes and grow a pair of balls because you will need to be a man now and not some spoiled brat with their safe space lifestyle!

I honestly think Trump will either become bored and quit after two years or the underhanded GOP will successfully impeach him within the same time period. Donald did not expect to win and now that he has he is not sure how he will keep all those fringe promises.

Why does the low information left insist that the Founding Fathers gave us nothing but rules and regulations when they gave us the greatest gift in history which was freedom. The first ten Amendments to the Constitution aka the Bill of Rights were intended to be curbs on government power not an expansion of it. As people throughout the world, who were locked under abusive monarchies for thousands of years, observed the fledgling Nation prosper they gradually overthrew the tyrants. Today whiny under educated left wingers seem to long for the days under the rules and regulations of monarchies and criminal regimes like Stalinism because they don't know any better.

If transported back more than a hundred years, most of us would have an early death from some illness easily cured nowadays.

Also want to point out that Trump would not have even been able to get nominated in the 19th century. Here are the reasons:

1. Sure there were racists, sexists and so on, but a gentleman was expected to express himself in a cultured manner, not with a 4th grade vocabulary and by attacking everybody and being rude.

2. His campaign was based on spreading false news really fast, impossible at that time. Trolling would not be taken seriously.

3. His campaign has been helped tremendously by a foreign power, which would not have been possible without the internet.

You realize that Karl Marx, the basis of your political ideas, is from the 19th century, doncha dope?

Who would want to?

All I have to think of is life without modern dentistry......shudder.....

Well, these people attack science and probably wish they could go back to those days.

Well I think your thread is a pretty big reach.

True though- like Trump most of them consider America not to be great any more.

When was America great in their minds?

That is always something they want to avoid being nailed down to.

America is a great country. Always has been- hopefully always will be.

I doubt he and the Russian Czar would have been butt buddies like he and Poootee.

When there are people like Matthew around, the greatness is certainly diminished.

America changed the world because of freedom.

In the early part of the 19th century, around 1810 (yes Matthew, that IS how it works) a few things converged. Unlike England where peasant farmers worked the lands of Aristocratic land owners, the American farmers owned their own lands. This meant that farmers could grow what THEY saw fit, not what their masters wanted them to grow. At the same time the Erie Canal was built. This allowed farmers for the first time in history to specialize with certain crops. Transportation allowed these specialists to over produce and take their production to market. Selling what they produced and buying what they needed. The efficiency was off the scale of anything the world had seen. Rather than subsistence farming that the old left, the Feudal lords presided over, the American Free Hold farmers produced dozens of times more food than they consumed. Food prices fell drastically, which the standard of living rocketed up. No longer did every child need to work the farm just to survive, now the new middle class could send children to become educated professionals and craftsmen.

This is the Market Revolution, and it changed the world, changed the lot of human race. This was THE pivotal moment in human history. A Free Hold farmer in the North could outproduce, acre per acre, the Plantations of the South. This doomed slavery, the foundation of the democratic party.

From the market revolution on, democrats have worked every possible angle to return humanity to the state of a monied elite ruling over a vast under class in abject poverty.

The greatness of America was, and IS putting the elitist scum, the democrats, down and allowing the common man to go as far as his brains and ambition will take him.

Well, these people attack science and probably wish they could go back to those days.

I would assume by science, you mean global warming. How dare anybody challenge that in a free country?

…And probably also, the idea that a man can really be a woman, and that anyone who objects to a man being in a women's dressing room, restroom, locker room, or such, is a “hateful, transphobic bigot!” That's what “science” has become to those on the left wrong.

Is that all you care about ?

It is the difference between America being what it is today and some place like India in quality of life. I just don't get why people would wish to go backwards and why I am the idiot for rejecting to it.

I am not advocating a return. However, you seem bent on the idea that today is better than yesterday.

Many would disagree. It really depends on your POV.

That you despise the idea some people could actually think things used to be better and are dismissive of the concept shows that you really are pretty narrow minded.

So much for progress.

Relax, no one is taking you away from the 21st century. It's okay, really. You just heard a whole bunch of stupid nonsense and it scared you, but now you can wake up and rejoin the real world.
