The Christian church learned its lesson with theocracy and the Catholic church. Church Inquisitions, Jewish oppression, and Crusades are all but a few of the results of this. But once the Guttenberg Press put Bibles in the hands of the average Christian and people began to learn to read, it all fell apart. No longer could the church lie to the people about how they were following the Bible with all the crap they were doing as Martin Luthers were popping up everywhere.

However, Islam cannot be separate from the state as they must live by Sharia law, and will not rest until that happens.

That is why they seem to be the great oppressor that the Catholic church once was.

The righteousness of God and the political ambitions of man can never stand together.
