I misinterpreted your statement and thought you meant one had to carry a passport or birth certificate and ID to vote, when you meant to register. I apologize.

To the topic - My issues with the SAVE ACT are three fold, which could be corrected but they won't be.
1. Administrative: Timing is too tight, given many states are not set up for such. If the legislation permitted the act to be enforced two years from execution, that would be fine.

2. Legal Liability: I am no fan of making Joe Shmo state employee legally liable for this, which the legislation can require. Again that could be rectified.

3. Federal Malevalence. UNder the provision of the agreement, the Feds require voter rolls, and can send back saying any person they want is not a citizen, kicking them off the roll. However, the language could be modified with #1 above, and require that any review happen at time of registration only, and setting up good faith procedures the voter can demonstrate their citizenship.

The "SAVE" Act is moot anyway. The last election was totally fair. Trump won the popular and the electoral vote. He won every swing state. He certainly can't complain about the results. Many of us voted for him.
