Why Do So Few Admit To Being Liberals?

Really? Let's hear you explain how Obama has done more for the pharmaceutical companies than Bush and the Republicans did when they passed the UNFUNDED Medicare prescription drug bill.

And be specific. Give us some facts and figures.

I'd like to hear how Obama "grew" government in general. Federal taxes have been going down..and the numbers of federal employees have shrunk down some 350K since he took office.

Really? Here is a graph for you
Federal Government Jobs Job Trends | Indeed.com

and here is another one
More On My Public Sector Fat Cat Obsession - Big Government

Not sure about the data for either graph..but your second basically backs up of the shrinking of government payrolls.

The Republican Party is the right of center party in this country. It's just not the right of right of center party in this country...

WTF?

Did you not understand those two sentences? Seems clear enough for me, and intuitively accurate.

Do we measure government by its employees or its role in our lives? Surely, he's expanded the role of government in the American medical industry, and he's been promising to distance the regulators from the businesses when it comes to offshore drilling, bringing regulation to an effectively unregulated industry.

Well yeah..to the first point. The healthcare plan moves the expense of payment from the public sector to the private sector. And the HMOs (Created essentially by Nixon) were more then happy to get a influx of brand new customers. What they weren't so happy about was the inability to toss them out when they got sick. So they worked overtime denigrating the plan.

And to the second point, during the Bush/Cheney era, the energy industry enjoyed unprecedented access to the United States Presidency. Heck..they were making policy. Now that's sort of changing. And they are not amused. The thought! Actually paying to clean up one of their messes with their own money!

When you factor out lost revenue from the recession, the ongoing lost revenue from the Bush tax cuts, the ongoing costs of the wars, the ongoing cost of Bush's prescription drug plan,

Obama's contribution to the deficit is about 10% of the total.

Unfortunately, got to give the right credit, their propaganda machine has completely buried that fact.

Even there, you have to factor ROI, since part of the stimulus money does come back in revenue. Infrastructure improvement also often results in more private investment; helping people renegotiate their mortgages and programs like cash for clunkers also has at minimum a stop-loss effect.

TS, stop the nonsense, hear. And the change is not going to be repealed, replaced, or reformed. And you are going to pay your share for it.

That was in response to NY carbon's clown assertions.
I have no interest in going quietly, or like sheep like yourself.

and I am not alone. But you are finding yourself that way more often huh?

25% of Democrats voting GOP now, or Anything BUT Democrat. They woke up. You must be a little slower, and a public school victim.

Probably because the GOP has spent the last 30 years trying to make it mean something that it doesn't. So, most have opted for the progressive label.

Your figure is wrong, and, yes, you are going to support it if even you don't like it.

And as this week’s Washington Post/ABC News poll showed, nearly 25 percent of Democrats now believe “a return to Bush’s policies would be good,” a staggeringly high figure

I'm sure you'd love the link too huh?

Google it, good luck.

Don't believe it, certainly not from a tool like you. Enjoy paying for Obamacare.

ouch, name calling, ewe brute.

:)

Might I suggest you add nothing to the conversation?

So angry these liberals. The truth hurts I guess.

hahahaha

TitanicSailor, those who disagree with you are not automatically liberals. Many in the GOP would piss on your rants.

15th post
I mean, how sad will it get? Will the Democrats show their disconnection with the people by offering seniors a mere $250 dollar payment in order to buy their votes prior to the election?

Democrats are making a pre-election pitch to give Social Security recipients a one-time payment of $250, part of a larger effort to convince senior voters that their party, and not Republicans, will best look out for the 58 million people who get the government retirement and disability benefits.

$250 dollars? Geezus H. Christmas

Adios Democrats!

Why Do So Few Admit To Being Liberals?

Because its a label without a meaning?

If you aks self-identifying liberals what that means, you'll get very different definitions depending on which "liberal" you ask.

Conservative thinkers like to define liberalism according to their POV.

Liberals define it according to their individual theories.

So really, what does the word actually mean?

Most liberals went to college, most people don't go to college.
do the math trailer park hero.

Good point, most liberals are of the mind everyone else's business but their own variety, and most of our restrictive social laws come from so called liberals. They are are more conservative in enforcing law than any conservative. Their courts are mostly Democrat controlled, and our Democrat run jails are big business. A century of liberal monopoly on all legislature throughout our land has led to the largest prison population in history. Mandatory sentencing OK'd by Democrats was basically an admittance that their government has failed, and can't trust the judges they put in place.
