Why do Republicans want to kill the Healthcare Exchanges

Healthcare Exchanges are only ONE of the things that Republicans want to kill.

The main target is Obamacare itself, of course.

The Exchanges are merely one piece of that puzzle.

The Exchanges will be to healthcare what the post office is to mail delivery.

So they will be indispensable to the country as well as a bargain? Good call Frankie!

Overtaffed, unionized, billions in debt, losing overnight delivery to FedEx...yeah

In 2006, Congress passed The Postal Accountability Enhancement Act. In essence, it requires the Postal Service to fund the benefits of its retirees for the next 75 years; this must be accomplished in the next 10 year time frame.

On Sept. 30 of each year the Postal Service must contribute $5.5 billion to its pension fund. There is no other government agency, private organization, or corporation that is required to do this.

The United State Postal Service is a self-sustaining government agency supported by stamps; it takes no taxpayer money to run this agency.

The second largest employer in the country is the Postal Service; all citizens are protected from strikes, and the union is bound by binding arbitration. When you think of the post office going under, remember those cards you send on special days for 44 cents will not be available; of course, the greeting card industry will be not be happy (less demand means less work) for that industry; pay attention to your commercials on TV, QVC, Home Shopping Network and remember that catch phrase “Free Shipping and Handling” it will be gone for good. Again, bad for the economy, bad for the consumer.

Honestly now...

How many of our conservative posters object to the concept of Healthcare Exchanges?

They will help people who need insurace, they are popular with the people....why are Republicans so intent on blocking peoples access to exchanges?

No they would not. They will kill the employer-sponsored insurance( which is already happening) and severely damage the options of healthcare for all Americans. Which is already happening as well.

This crap has to be repealed, defunded or killed in any other possible way.

Healthcare exchanges provide a pool for those who are self employed or whose employers do not provide insurance

How do they kill employer-sponsored insurance?
Yeah cause quadrupling the price of employer-sponsored insurance won't hurt anyone.
What a disingenuous POS you are.

The Postal Union (NALC) lobbied congress to do that.
Postal Reform

It wasn't the Republicans who did it.
The Blame goes to the National Association of Letter Carriers Union to pay that 5.5 billion up front for 10 years.

Why do Republicans want to kill the Healthcare Exchanges? Because it was proposed and passed by Obama and the Democrats.

If the situation were reversed they would be cheering it for all it's worth.

Oh yes the Obama welcome to part time work, or American job killing bill is great stuff:cuckoo:

Ha ha ha.. whatever... the USPS receives direct reimbursement for reduced rates it provides to non-profits and others.

Call it what you will, it is a subsidy.

I have still not received a reasonable response

Healthcare Exchanges allow the uninsured to create a pool of insured to compete as a group rather than as an individual. This pooling of applicants allows them to demand better insurance rates.

Republicans once proposed this as the solution to our healthcare problems and now are shutting down government to block Americans from using them

Why do Republicans oppose Exchanges....Not Obamacare...but the exchanges?

simple- because its a Democrat-sponsored law.

Wait you forgot it's because we are racist, you can't forget that!

"Why do Republicans want to kill the Healthcare Exchanges?" - Because if and when they are set up they will succeed...succeed in enslaving a free people by keeping them happy and healthy and goddamnit, we are Americans and we can't have that kind of German and Swiss socialism succeeding here in America!

Neither of which has a socialized program than this one. If we had the German model we would be better off.

If liberals and Democrats fought for a German model you wingnuts would be calling everyone Nazis! Oh wait, you already do,

I guess the wingnuts haven't heard any talking points they can reguritate on this point? You know it is against their ideological dogma to stray too far from the talking points for fear of being thrown under the proverbial bus with shouts of Rhino! - Traitor! - and worse in their minds 'liberal!'

It's already doubled and tippled in some areas and this is before it's even fully implemented.

You are a POS that thinks "free" and "subsidies" are paid for by Obama's magic money printing press.

Except that the post office is not self sustaining and has not been for a while.. it does take from taxpayers

You are no better than a common crook. You are a coward. You are lazy. You are worthless piece of bird shit. Get a frigging job looser.

It's so strange because the healthcare exchanges is a Republican idea. Do they have a better idea now? Lets see it.

Just like the negative tax for the working poor. The rightwing in American politics will not even back Conservative or Republican backed proposals as long as one single Democrat backs them. It's a text book example of reactionary politics

Exchanges and numerous groups negotiating to have members participate in the group plans?? Nope.. no objection...

GOVERNMENT RUN EXCHANGES... yes.. I am against that whole heartedly

Yup. Check out my above post. Pretty good alternative to O care.
