This country is founded on immigration. None of us are from here. We are mostly of European descent--and we are well known as the melting pot of the world. So just because YOU'RE here doesn't mean you have a right to slam the door shut behind you.

Illegals are not eligible for Welfare benefits, nor are they stupid enough to take the risk of getting caught & deported just so they can cast a vote.

The overwhelming majority of them overstayed their visa's, and did not risk their lives by crossing a desert to get here. They didn't leave Mexico to come to nothing. They came mainly through legal visa's, because they were invited by U.S. Citizen family members and friends. Those who frequently cross the border are coming here to pick fruit, then they re-cross the border to get back to their homes in Mexico. Of course you have your drug lords that also cross frequently but they are in the minority of this group.

The main cost to illegal immigration is education. The jobs they normally take are fast food joints, restaurants, hotels, house cleaning. gardening, picking fruit, and other jobs that Americans typically don't want. This is why we need immigration reform. So that when they're here working they too are paying into social security/medicare--federal & state taxes. But I wouldn't expect a Reich winger to catch onto that concept. But you better (quickly.)

We have an aging population in the United States today. Back in the 50's average kids per family was 4. Over the last few decades kids sizes reduced to 2 or less. Baby boomers are retiring into social security/medicare at 10,000 per day, and this will continue for the next 10 years, adding an additional 84 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Right now one worker is supporting 3 retirees on borrowed money. We need younger people working in this country to support these programs or you can kiss your Social Security & Medicare GOOD-BYE. The only way we're going to get younger workers is through immigration.
