We were speaking about kids in schools.

I didn't like reading as a kid... in fact I hated to read... today I read all the time... after one book is finished I read another one... usually from the library....
I love action books where the good guys win the day...
Like Clive Cussler's novels....

As a kid, I loved reading.

As a youth, I got in trouble in a Public Library one day for being in the Adult section. Even then, there were foolish adults who were primed for the coming of MAGA.

Your achievements if you want the list to be viewed as that, are seriously pedestrian. Please, do not misinterpret what Dante is saying here. It's like using the term "ignorant" and where people go all crazed off track.

The purple heart is seriously pedestrian. A full military retirement? If it's a retirement (years in?), we are impressed. Few stay long enough.

The rest is a Middle Class American Dream -- therefore, pedestrian. Nothing wrong here. I can see people in your position saying things like "I did everything by the book and _______________(fill in the blank(s)). Resentments fed by MAGA bs. As if the MAGA leaders actually cared.

The issue really isn't about critical thinking per se, it's about what is thought about. A fisherman reads the lake charts, checks the weather, time of day, phase of the moon, water temperature, etc. Then proceeds to catch lots of fish. On the way home he stops at a bar, has too many drinks and drives into a tree.
