No, I read a lot of epidemiology, I have for decades, and diseases in general are just not getting milder. I wish they would. Cite your references.

The only thing that has happened in general to moderate diseases is that we have vaccines for many now and fairly advanced supportive care, and pretty good exclusionary policies that keep many diseases out. So they may seem not a problem, but nobody has made typhoid or Ebola or yellow fever or bubonic plague any milder. We just don't get them much here. That could change.

With them being older, they are more as risk of not beating the sickness, but if the vaccine for some reason only ends up making things worse, and I don't mean to sound insensitive when I say this, but at least the people who take the nosedive are people who had already lived a full life pretty much.
