Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) accused President Donald Trump of attempting to “rig” the 2026 midterm elections.

“He’s been very open and honest including right outside the White House just last week saying incumbents are likely to lose the midterms and that’s why he called Greg Abbot. That’s why he said he’s quote, unquote, entitled. Think about that, entitled to five seats. It’s why he sent J.D. Vance to Indiana shortly thereafter and why he moved in Missouri. He moved the folks in North Carolina and now we have a special election in Indiana, rather, a special session. He is not screwing around. He’s changing the rules and he’s rigging the game because he knows he’ll lose if all things are equal.”

Predicting the future when the prediction is based on past and current behavior is NOT a conspiracy.

Trump DID try to rig the election. In fact he was charged and convicted for trying to hide damaging information in an ILLEGAL manner. He DID call the governor of Georgia trying to pressure him into "finding" votes. He DID try to get the DOJ to lie about what they found in regards to voter fraud. I saw the entire top of the DOJ testify to that under oath. And he IS actively trying to get as many states as possible to Gerrymander the election maps Although this is typically done only after a sensus. Just so he can hold on to the house.

So no it's not a conspiracy. It's a prediction based on his past and current behavior. And there's nothing to suggest he'll refrain from doing so again and probably worse. This because unlike 2019 you guys have internalized that there's nothing wrong with a DOJ that simply does the President's bidding no matter what the law and human decency dictates.

Also of course brings the question. Do you think "rigging" an election is acceptable if the other side does it to. And if so, does the rigging needs to be answered in kind or does anything go if the other side does something that can be considered rigging?

For instance, if Newson succeeds in Gerrymandering can Trump demand the DOJ to say they have found proof of large scale election fraud when that isn't the case?
