It was the longest one in history. The People won.

I voted other, cause the American people clearly won, when a few brave Dems stood up to their cult and risked their lives to cross party lines

I disagree. I think that used to be the play, but America has changed a lot over the past four years

I don’t think Americans will forget what the Dems attempted here
A week. Two, tops. By the midterms 12 months from now, people will say, "Shutdown? Wasn't that like 5 years ago?"

That's if they think of it at all which they won't.

Well that’s even more proof the Dems failed but I certainly hope that America is reminded of what they did

I don't think I or more importantly, elected republicans, will ever let the anti American democrats EVER forget what they've done. What did the Japanese say after Pearl Harbor? We have awakened a sleeping giant.

Time to vote. Let's see what everyone thinks. Maybe everyone will be in agreement.
Is it too early to tell?

"What exactly did the Senate vote on?

"The Senate passed a procedural vote on Sunday, which means the vote was not over the bill, but it will allow the bill to move forward so senators can debate and eventually vote on it. This 60-40 test vote marks the first step in a series of procedural manoeuvres."

This shutdown has sidelined about 750,000 federal employees according to the CBO, and I can't help wondering if either party wanted the stoppage to continue during the upcoming Thanksgiving travel season?

US Senate shutdown vote: What happened, who voted to end it, what’s next?

Trump's shutdown cost US an extra $1 Billion per Day!!!!! Trump Lost!
Democrats won last weeks election & got the government to reopen & stop wasting billion on Trump's political shutdown stunt.
Trump Disapproval.webp

Politically? The Democrats lost badly, snatching defeat from the jaws of last week's victory. Plus, anything that goes wrong with the economy in the next few months will be blamed on the Democrat government shut down.

There will likely be a power struggle in the Democrat ranks after this failure.

How it shakes out? Anyones guess.

But keep in mind, after Republicans shut down the government in the Obama Era, they won the Senate in the following midterm.

Unfortunately for Democrats, this ain't that. Obamacare and the way it was rammed through, and the mandate infuriated many nonpartisan Americans. Another handout from the taxes of the working class doesn't muster the same weight on election Day, IMO.

Considering the republicans voted to pass it nearly unanimously FOURTEEN times, it is pretty clear they didn't want the gov't closed. SHUMER'S SHUTDOWN FOLLY.

We lost---

Key-rect. The citizens of America lost.
  1. Republicans will lose nothing.
  2. Democrats will lose nothing.
  3. Endless services and things have been chucked into abeyance now, inactive, unproductive for over a month, all still to be paid to the penny once the shutdown is over so that no federal agency nor employee suffers any loss while the taxpayer foots the bill for everything.
In other words: the Fed will still send taxpayers 100% of the bill yet we will only see 90% of the governmental return.

If this bullshit goes through as is, the People will lose!

Republicans also controlled all three branches of the federal government along with SCOTUS, so it's hard to see how a shutdown materialized without their support (or indifference):

ChatGPT:

"The current U.S. federal government shutdown is largely attributed to the Republican Party in Congress. For example:

  • "A recent poll found that 46 % of independents blame Republicans for the shutdown, compared to 23 % blaming Democrats. The Washington Post+2ABC News+2
  • Another poll showed 38 % of U.S. adults said Republicans would be mostly to blame, 27 % said Democrats, and 31 % said both. PBS+1
  • The legislative history shows that the Republican-led House passed a “continuing resolution” (stopgap funding bill) that failed in the Senate, and the shutdown began once funding expired. Reuters+2CBS News+2

"That said, the Democratic Party also bears some responsibility: some of their votes and strategic decisions contributed to the impasse. For instance, Democrats rejected certain funding measures they deemed unacceptable. PBS+2Reuters+2

"So in short: the Republicans are seen as primarily responsible, though the situation involves both parties."
