Who Will Stop Elon Musk's Coup?

The world’s richest man now has the power to override congressional spending decisions and access to private information about every US taxpayer.

“Elon Musk, often described as Donald Trump’s shadow president, has quickly morphed into something much more dangerous: Trump’s co-autocrat. Hitherto, Trump’s biggest threat to American democracy came when he incited the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. The event was typically Trump in that it was lurid, violent, theatrical, and televised. January 6, like Trump’s first term, demonstrated that he had the ability to menace democratic norms and spur on mayhem—but not to really control the ultimate operation of government.

For his second term, Trump has tried to make amends for that failure by recruiting true believers who share his passion for subduing the government, including running roughshod over the system of checks and balance. Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, who specializes in taking over large companies and remaking them in his image, has been Trump’s most important ally in this agenda, acting as considerably more than an aide. In truth, Musk is emerging as a government within the government, using the time-honored revolutionary tactic of developing dual power in order to seize control.

On Sunday, the Financial Times reported that

‘Musk vowed to unilaterally cancel hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of government grants after apparently gaining access to review the US Treasury’s vast payments system, a move that prompted the sudden resignation of one of the department’s most senior officials.’”

Unelected, unappointed, unconfirmed – this is fascism at its most basic, facilitated by Trump.
Fuck Congress. They are only enriching themselves and do nothing to help the American people.

Wrong as usual. That's why marches are going on all over the country today. And this is just the beginning.

Those marches are going on because old Hakeem ordered them. And soros and company are paying for them.

You are wrong, but again, you'll see more. BLM is not in business right now, idiot. We have the right to protest in all 50 states. You guys will get 2 years, by the time the midterms roll around, people will be done with this bs.

They don't want to do away with waste in government spending? That doesn't make sense.
This isn't about waste in government spending. It's about an unelected motherfucker violating the Constitution. Redirect military spending, establish a national living wage, eradicate white racism and male sexism and you won't have to worry about "spending".

We are losing over 1 trillion dollars per year because of white racism alone. Not to mention the additional trillion due to sexism.

Yes, they are taking a knife to our government. Bannon promised that MAGA would take it all down, didn't he. But Bannon also promised that Musk would be gone by inauguration day. HE IS STILL THERE, snooping into secret classified information and giving China and Russia hope to replace the US as the most benevolent nation. So....

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS STEVIE BANNON?

A clarification if I may.
JFK authorized USAID with an EO, which is why Trump can modify it with an EO
Congress authorizes the funding, but has no say on line by line spending. Its not supposed to be a slush fund.
Spending is to align with State department priorities, which is why Trump put USAID under the State Department and Marco Rubio

indeed, because USAID was established by Congress as an independent agency, the Executive Branch cannot dissolve or move it, but it can propose internal changes with Congressional notification and consultation

Putting aside whether the ultimate best location for USAID is within State or not, and which functions should remain where, what is happening now is not what has happened in the past. Prior efforts have been long and often drawn out, typically with the consultation of Congress during the process. Indeed, because USAID was established by Congress as an independent agency, the Executive Branch cannot dissolve or move it, but it can propose internal changes with Congressional notification and consultation. In the current moment, the move to shut down the agency (and pause all foreign assistance) happened without Congressional notification – Congress was not notified until February 3, the same day that several Democratic lawmakers protested the closure of the agency.
