I still think that it's funny. Did you read the article that I posted? Maybe this will help you guys understand why I thought that it is funny:

Candidate Comparison

Thank you for sharing that. I had missed that on his site. I am very glad you shared that. Again I have some thinking to do, as well as some learning. I have until November after all. Plenty of time to "get my ducks in a row" as it were. Again thank you.

Thank you for having an intelligent, open, and rational discussion. Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the welcome, and please feel free to jump my case any time you see me making a stupid mistake. I need all the help I can get from both sides to find my way to seeing things clearly. It really sucks being so new to all this, but I feel that this might be a good place to learn after all. Sorry if I was rude at all earlier.

So then it's not just me that is confused about this then. I am glad to see others who are quite as curious as me to see where this is going. I still can't figure out what I could possibly have said in that statement to amuse or annoy someone. But then again the other asshat up there also picked on me, so who knows, maybe there is something to it.

Oh and Murf76, I truly hope not, but does it really bode well? That's my question. People just really seem to not care anymore who is president and what he does. The few that do are incredibly vocal about it, but the apathetic just ignore it. Especially since the electoral college is in place and makes so many feel like their votes are pointless anyway.

Hardline libertarians are just weird like that. You can't let them bug you. If it helps any, they're just really passionate. When you really understand the Constitution and love the ideals behind it, it's just too hard to wrap your mind around compromises to it. I get that, so it's not something that gets me bent out of shape. But it doesn't make Johnson a viable candidate, and it doesn't make Obama, the antithesis of all they believe, acceptable. I'll take 80% of what I do want rather than 100% of what I don't want.

In terms of apathetic Americans, I really do have hope that people are waking up. Not as fast as I'd like, but damn... when was the last time people turned out quoting the Founders? The left despises the Tea Party, but they're comprised of retirees and housewives pushing strollers with quotes from Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin on cardboard signs. Just the fact that these Paul/Johnson guys are here trying to eat your ass off over the concept of Liberty is actually a promising sign. Hang onto it. ;)

Will do, Murf, will do. And I also have been meaning to learn about the Tea Party, I know very little about them.

I found it amusing because you stated that voted for Gary Johnson on the poll but because of this thread you decided to vote for Romney. I just thought that it was odd that reading a thread could make you change your mind, especially when some of it is the same mindless mantra people hear on a daily basis from neocon talking heads like hannity and limbaugh, etc.

Besides the stupid health care bill, how is he (Obama) any different than his republican predecessor? Foreign policy? NO. Big government programs? NO Civil Liberties? NO. Taxes? NO. How will Romney be any different on the above policies?

Foreign policy???? We were respected during the Bush years! Obama comes in and apologizes to the Muslim world!
Big government programs??? We now have half the population paying no taxes and Welfare the highest it's been ever, Obama is the Food stamp KIng!
Civil Liberties???We are losing our own liberties to the Illegals more and more each day as the now are not deporting but giving work visas and taking our jobs!
Taxes??? He wants class ware fare as well as dividing the country along racial lines making sure that blacks and whites are disciplined in school equally regardless of who commits the infractions and created the African American Education Offices to help blacks as if they ARE the ONLY disadvantaged students in the nation.....

Romney has a plan for the middle class and the economy. Obama cannot even go to any Job Council Meetings..Do they even have a job council any more? We need a fair president.

No we weren't! No he didn't! He's continuing the same neocon nation building crap as the previous Administration.

Have you ever heard of the bail outs, TARP, DHS, TSA, that was started by the previous Administration? That's BIG GOVERNMENT. What percentage of the population was allegedly "paying no taxes" under the previous Administration? What policies of the previous Administration started the economic depression in the first place?

What are Romney's plans for the middle class?

Mitt Romney’s Plan for a Stronger Middle Class
A Plan For More Jobs And More Take-Home Pay

the economy

There are NO mistakes just certain conclusions and feelings one has. Trust your instincts, I try to do the same thing as far as looking at things from all sides. It helps me come to my own conclusions. I was the rude one earlier, my apology to you.

I will keep that in mind, sir, or madame as the case may be. And no worries. We both said things we shouldn't have I suppose, haha. Have a good one. I am off to read.

Same here. Romney could pick Ron Paul and it wouldn't have changed my vote nothing is going to change it.

I've always voted Libertarian in the past (Barr, Badnarik, Browne, etc), because I saw very little difference between the candidates being run by the establishment. This continues to be the case in 2012 but there is a difference this time. I have never seen a President that represents the worst of both parties like President Obama. What Classical Liberals/Libertarians abhor about Progressive, Obama possesses in spades. What we can't stand about modern RINO Conservatives, such as endless military conflicts, the war on drugs, and the squashing of personal liberty in the name of security, we also get from Obama. He's like the nastiest big gov R rolled together with the most Marxist oriented D you could imagine. The thought of him continuing to appoint federal judges while picking and choosing which laws he'll follow and which he will not is terrifying.

For these reasons, I will not be supporting Johnson but will instead hold my nose tightly and pull the lever for Romney. I then expect to be thoroughly disgusted with his actions, after which I'll fight hard to find a true, non-RINO conservative to replace him down the road. Maybe I'm wrong about Romney, I hope so, but I can't stomach the thought of four more years of Obama policies. Romney it will be for me.

I won't try to convince you to vote otherwise. I sure understand why you want Johnson. I just hope your voting your conscience doesn't result in four more years of Obama. That's not good for anybody...FOR SURE!

That's my reason also.

In that voting booth...... every Libertarian needs to think of what Obama SCOTUS picks will do for the freedom enjoyed under Libertarianism.

I know they will just by virtue of their displayed understanding in being a Libertarian.

There is no reason to believe that Willard's appointments would be any better, nor any GOPer's, at protecting property rights or personal liberties given the abominable results from the appointees of either Bush.

Mr Nick is right that in THIS election a vote for anyone but Romney is, in effect, one less vote against Obama.

But they say that in every single election. That was the tune in 2008. We can't let Obama get in there. Just vote for McCain. Same shit in 2004. John Kerry would be too dangerous in a time of war. We need to keep Bush even if he isn't really what we want.

Same song and dance every time. At some point you gotta dig your heels in and say "No more!"

I actually chose Gary Johnson as he is the person I feel most espouses my personal beliefs on how this country should be run. However, after reading this thread I have come to the conclusion that the vote cast should be the one most likely to topple Obama from power and ensure that we are not stuck with yet another four years of his entirely ineffectual leadership and divisive decisions.

I will admit that his please to the gay community at one time did draw me towards him, but then after seeing that he was simply using that to get votes, well that was the end of it for me. I sat down a really looked at my views and realized that other than that I can't say I agree with anything else he has done other than the repeal of DADT. That's pretty sad to say when I was pretty damned gung ho about him at first. Now that I have had time to sit down and think I realized that when it comes to government I am much closer to the Libertarians, but in this vote I just think a vote away from the only sure bet to topple Obama would be a lose on everyone's part. I therefor changed my mind and have decided that while I find Romney less than a pleasant choice I will be voting for him in this election.

Dude, you're in Kansas. Romney is going to win your state in a walk. Just vote your conscience and go with Johnson.

I think that makes sense and I would encourage all on this board to contact Johnson about how they feel and how they would support his candidicy in the future for we hope that his interest in the presidency will not wane.

I'd like to see Johnson make a run for the Senate some day.

Says the guy pulling the lever for Obama.

Your question was not fair for me. I will not be voting for anyone but I will vote against Obama. It is sad that these two are going to be the choice. The libertarians have a zero chance and will just screw things up.

Yeah, because the Republicans and Democrats haven't already done that or anything, right?

How much worse do things have to get for you folks to wake up? Do we have to have a complete economic collapse?
