White House moves forward with wall funding despite frivolous lawsuits

The most appalling thing about the STATE lawsuits is that ALL of these Attorneys General are the highest ranking legal officials in their respective states, and ALL of them know that this (these) lawsuit is bullshit from the word go. The states have NO STANDING to sue, which is one of the first things you are taught in a legal procedure course in law school. Slam dunk. No standing. Done.

And look closely for the PRINCIPLE that they are defending. Cut through all the bullshit, and it's, "We don't like Trump, and we will do anything we can to delay or defeat ANYTHING HE TRIES TO DO!"

That's it. Nothing more.

One can only hope that America is watching this foolishness.

Every one of those States have Congressional representation. The principle they are defending is Separation of Powers. When you cut thru the bullshit, this is Trump acting out because he lost in legitimate avenues.

Your organ grinder said, again today, the New York Times is a "true enemy of the people". Let's hope Americans are watching the appalling spectacle of the ignorant buffoon in the White House.

The two elements of an emergency are exigency and need. Trump disavowed one ("I didn't need to do this)" and relegated the other to a matter of choice ("I'd rather do it much faster").

If only words had meaning in Trumplandia.

There is a very important principle at stake. Can Trump violate the Constitution which gives Congress the power of the purse to spend money that Congress refused to authorize. Americans are watching this and they are on the states' side not Trump's. The states do have standing.
You have been watching too much fake news....he has the ability to designate defense funds and that will give him more than what he even asked for...so while he is battling Pelosi in court the wall construction will be well on its way....

Everything Trump says is fake news. The Congress is charged with authorizing spending. and refusing to give Trump money is not a emergency. Even Trump toady Alan Dershowitz agrees. Try reading the CONSTITUTION some time.

Try reading the National Emergencies Act too
National Emergencies Act - Wikipedia
The president has the power to act, and the congress has the power to stop him with a "resolution of disapproval" that can override his veto. With the GOP senate the veto override looks doubtful. p.s. Trump has plenty of money even w/o the emergency funding.

You mean words like the "power outage emergency" in Puerto Rico, where it costs twice as much to rebuild the power grid if its expedited, or its less costly to rebuild at a slower pace? Emergencies can be addressed via differing timetables, and they can take months or years, like rebuilding the damaged levees around New Orleans.

No, the immediate, or exigent, need in those instances is apparent and undeniable. The time required to achieve a goal is a different matter.

Bingo. They are all lawyers and they know they don't have a leg to stand on.

Oh and you can bet America is watching.

The caravans of thousands of migrants flowing north from Central America along with the continuous flow of drugs and gang members as well as migrants from around the world are evidence that the emergency along the southern border is real. You can disagree with that assessment, but you can't deny that it is plausible. Look at the drug overdose death rate increasing since 2015, yes that's an emergency, and then under that chart look at the illegals caught so far in 2019 compared to earlier years, yes that's an emergency too.

You can't demonstrate correlation, much less causation, as opioid deaths have tripled since 2000, while illegal border crossings have dropped by 2/3's.

(At the point of absurdity, your graphs show that fentanyl deaths go up when border crossings increase and when they decrease.) You may want to avoid using those two charts together.)
