Dropping nukes on Residential Cities is not just alright, sometimes it's the most humane solution. There are some things much less pleasant than an instant death in the nuclear fireball, and we can't say that Japanese didn't deserve them.
And no, WWII was mostly secular and clean (with all those dirty moments). It wasn't a religious war.
If one is fighting for God Himself, then one can do nearly anything. One's enemies in such a war are also fighting against God, a hateful and damnable thing. To dispute the authority of Authority itself - well, each soldier can see himself as God's own avenging sword. There can be no restraint. One's actions to chastise the enemy/sinner are sanctioned as thoroughly as anything can be. Rapine, plunder, slaughter, all the basest crimes of man becomes something more than a right - make into a duty, a Holy Cause, not sins at all. Not just being paid to do terrible things, not just sinning because sin felt good, but being told that you can literally get away with anything, because Gid really is on your side.
Yes, that's what we call Religious wars.
Your patriarch Cyril was once a KGB member and is an oligarch living with $2.7 billions private assets from the grace of Putin.
