One of the marks of a great drummer is to accent what the soloist is doing.I only know if the drummer doesn't take charge time & pop then the band sucks.

Another one is Phil Collins. He has a great touch on the drums, but you won't here it on Genesis.A really fine drummer who pretty much wasted his advanced technique playing straight ahead 4/4 rock/pop is Steve Smith, of Journey. Really good. But there were a lot of those musicians.
Here is a more musical drum solo.Sorry to all dopeheads; drum solos ARE boring....................but in context...drums are good of course. Same with the noise from electric guitars.......

Here comes the ginger bread man...
I hear a lot of Africa in there. As always.
rare Fela Kuti footage at 29:33
That video is the bomb! Excellent display of black culture, due no BS.

Solos are not the mark of a good drummer. My kid can beat the hell out my drums but can't read a note of music or play along with the music.I play, and 40 years later I feel good about it. Never sat with a band, it's not why I play. ...

I can read music and keep a beat but, at 65, my hands are no longer fast enough for an impressive solo.
Not saying join a band but learn to read the music and get a big headset and practice playing along. Much more satisfying than just beating the skins.

Interesting choice --- I always played that track to highlight Jack Bruce's bass.
But that was the thing about Cream; there were no weak points. Disraeli Gears was the first LP I ever bought and I literally wore it out.
