The question arises in my mind, What have you learned if you confined yourself to the tourist areas?

One thing I like about Viking River Cruises is they often have guest speakers on board the boats who talk about what it is like to actually live in the countries we are passing through. Often those little afternoon talks are as memorable as the castles, monasteries, etc., that you visit.

I was in Turkiye for an hour as I walked through an airport. I could have slowed down a little bit to notice more of the clothes, the adaptations for a hot semi-arid climate.
