If GM had gone under, which may very well have happened without intervention, the loss of jobs nationwide would have been greater, and with Wall Street's planned recession, the country would have descended into a depression, not just a recession. Today, the company is profiting and the last of GM's shares have been sold.

As for "leading us toward single-payer", that's not happening any time soon because private-profit insurance companies are making more money from Obamacare.

Obama won the election in 2008. He officially took office on Jan 20, 2009. During the first two years Obama had the slightest of majorities and was able to pass his signature bill, ACA.
In 2010 the republicans, thanks to the tea party surge, captured the House. This means that Obama only had control of the House and Senate for two years, NOT THE FIVE YEARS YOU ARE SCREAMING ABOUT.
Now, about those cases of making law with his "pen," here are some numbers to consider.

George W. Bush signed a total of 291 executive orders (173 in the first term and 118 in the second term.

Barack Obama has signed a total of 168 (to date). There were 147 signed in the first term and so far there have been 21 in this term (as of 1/20/2014).

Notice that Obama (147) signed fewer executive orders in his first term then did bush (173) did in his first term. If he continues signing executive orders at his current rate he will end up with approximately 80 or so.

No jobs (good, substantial ones anyway). Marxism always drags a society down and it always will. Make no mistake, Obama is a Marxist in the very real and literal sense.

We can fully expect to see more wealth redistribution; greater burdens placed on businesses; more free handouts to the inner city folks, crack moms, illegals, and special interest groups (all at taxpayer expense); reduction of our powerful military; and a general implosion from within. The current POTUS (along his cronies in Congress and the Supreme Court) has done great damage to our nation.
