The reason was because after 6 years of a good economy disaster struck, the democrats took over congress and told Bush to STFU. It only took them two years to cause a recession that should have resulted in the biggest recovery in history, as history has always shown. But something even worse happened and the democrats took over all three branches of the government and we got the weakest longest most costly recovery in history. Thanks for nothing democrats.

3) Tax cuts for the wealthy only help the wealthy. Why? Because stimulating supply side means dick if you don't stimulate demand. The Bush tax cuts in total only created 4.6 jobs per million dollar cut.

4) Tax cuts do not pay for themselves. Every dollar lost in revenue is one more dollar the gov needs to borrow to pay the bills. Bush's tax cuts have greatly contributed to our national debt.

5) Congressional republicans constantly push legislation that goes against popular opinion (gay rights, raising the minimum wage, extending unemployment insurance, background checks for gun ownership).

6) They whine and complain about ObamaCare yet offer no alternative to fix our broken health care system. Instead they claim we have "the best in the world". (WHO ranks the US's health system just above Slovenia). Being technologically superior means dick if people can't afford decent care.

Let's break some of these down, OK?

Anti gay: Not all republicans are anti gay, so don't paint with a broad brush. True Conservatives believe in hate the sin, love the sinner.
Drug testing welfare: Ain't gonna happen. That's the Progressive mantra. And there's that pesky thing called the Constitution. Courts have already struck down the testing.

"Regulations". Many regulations have gone overboard, and we all know it.

"Tax cuts for the wealthy". I love that one! It was the Democrats who wrote the tax laws, and each and every "cut" was put there by wealthy Democrats, and everybody is eligible for each and every deduction. One court even ruled breast implants were a legal "business expense" for a stripper.
I for one am in favor of throwing the entire 77,000 page Tax Code into the woodstove and starting over so EVERYBODY pays something!

Each and every time taxes are cut, the amount of money that flows into the Treasury increases! Each and every time. The problem is, the fools in Congress look at that money and say "for meee???" And spend it!

Minimum wage: The Federal minimum wage is only for the unions. Union contracts base the pay on the "Federal minimum wage". Each state has a minimum wage law. Many states have higher wage laws than the feds. You don't like your state's minimum wage? Call your STATE legislator!

People do go through background checks for firearms purchases. But many states like very Liberal Vermont do not have concealed carry laws. And I know you constantly read about all the mass murders here in Vermont every day. Then look at Chicago with extremely tight gun laws, and look at all the murders there.

Our health care is the best in the world. But what you want is FREE health care. We don't have the money to pay for it. What we need to do is find ways to reduce the cost of health care, not just pay.
