Vinegar is a disinfectant/cleaner, and depending on the strength it can be drank into the body.

I use it always, and it's never caused me any troubles. Bleach can be used to sterilize water, and depending on the amount used the water can be cooked with and consumed.

How to Disinfect Water with Bleach

1. Find the Right Bleach: Use fresh, regular, unscented household liquid bleach (5-8.25% sodium hypochlorite). No scented, color-safe, or gel bleaches.
2. Prepare Water: Let cloudy water sit or filter it through a cloth/coffee filter first.
3. Add Bleach: For clear water, add 8 drops (or 1/8 teaspoon) per gallon; for cloudy/cold water, double to 16 drops.
4. Mix & Wait: Stir or shake well, then let it stand for 30 minutes.
5. Check for Odor: A slight chlorine smell means it's likely safe. If no smell, repeat the dose and wait 15 more minutes.
6. Taste/Storage: A slight chlorine "taste" is okay. If too strong, let it sit exposed to air.
