My doctor I noticed was wearing a mask when making his rounds at his office, but when he came into the room I was in he didn't have one on. He knows I ain't worried about it so he feels comfortable around me by not wearing it.

I think he has patient's that want him to wear one when he goes into see them, so out of respect he wears one when he goes into see them.

I had Covid in early 2020, and he has always been comfortable in my presence after I got over it early on. So it doesn't surprise me that he still honors those who want certain thing's out of him, but then acts relieved when he steps in too see me.

I'm trying to understand why you think that "close proximity" has a bearing on effectiveness of masks.

Obviously, those in close proximity have the highest chance of contracting COVID from someone who is currently infected. If the masks were incapable of blocking viruses, as you initially claimed, then wearing them would be useless in close proximity.

But obviously the masks aren't useless, in fact they're pretty effective at protecting medical professionals.

So you see, it's obvious that their masks do indeed block transmission.
