Number one show, favorite show of all time, blah, blah, blah.
Why?
Writing is only fair, plot lines predictable, acting largely wooden, some interesting characters, but...what is it? My theory...
Jethro Gibbs is a man. A "mensch." An un-apologetic,politically-incorrect, confident, manly man.
He is the Ozzie Nelson, the Ward Cleaver, the Ben Cartwright of this television generation.
People watch to see the dynamic of a father figure (he disciplines his subordinates in ways that no real manager would - especially a government manager) and his figurative adult "children."
