And dressing up statues with flowers? Do Catholics believe that the statues can smell the flowers?

These visuals and rituals are an expression of love and collective activity for people to share.
Just like at a funeral, do you think the flowers are for the dead?
It is for the people coming together in fellowship and celebrating with
traditions passed down from their elders to join in respect,
and in continuing the spiritual lineage from past to future.

I'm sorry you do not share such a connection with the future.
Maybe that is why you do not relate to these practices,
if you are stuck in the past and can't see past that.

Sorry guno maybe we should stick to issues that
do inspire you to think forward. Do you care more
about wildlife and preserving trees and forest,
river and ocean ecosystems? What inspires you, guno?
Perhaps it is better to focus on what uplifts you and
brings out your creative side. Not this which brings out
your cynicism and rejection. That gets old, and stagnates.
What inspires you to think bigger and rise above the
mess in the world? What do you like, love, admire guno?

Guno has so many issues with Catholics, it's hard to keep up with them all. Now, he wonders about flowers. Ho hum. Tomorrow he'll probably go back to wondering about Rosaries or the remains of Saints.

He still has it in for Rome obviously, you know sacking of Herods Temple. Jews think the West Wall is the presence of God.

Probably an old Pagan ritual. The Roman Church borrowed from the local customs of old, much like how Evangelicals in America appropriated Shamanism.
