An article titled “What were real reasons behind the Ukrainian ‘revolution’?” was published on blogspot.com last week – see here.

The author deals with its reasons, which are mentioned most often (widespread corruption, usurpation of power, violence of police) and gave his own version.

And what is your opinion about these reasons?

Of course, I do not understand American politics, let alone Ukrainian politics.

But I have gotten the impression that despite Czar Putin being a very, very, very bad guy, many Ukrainian politicians are not exactly angels themselves.

And is here anybody who believes that a reason for the Ukrainian “revolution” really was a wish to establish democracy and to free Ukraine from Russian colonial rule?

That is kind of a stupid question. There were several reasons of it. Except of that, much depends on the point of view.

And what were these reasons, in your opinion (see the title of this thread and its first post)?
Reasons for who? For Ukrainians that supported the Euromaidan that was corruption, the desire of Yanukovich to turn Ukraine into another Russia (with virtually one ruling party, a strict vertical of the power based on personal loyalty and so on).

Reasons for some Western politicians who supported that were taking Ukraine out of Russian sphere of influence for some strategical goals.

Ukraine did not want to be a Moscow (golden horde) colony any more

There is a link to an article in the first post of the thread - What were real reasons behind the Ukrainian “revolution”?

Please read par. 1.1., 1.2., 2.1. and 2.2. of this article and try to answer the following two questions:

If there was a widespread corruption under Yanukovich, why has nobody of his team been convicted on corruption charges until now?

In April 2019 Zelensky, who is now the acting Ukrainian President, put the similar question (question “Why have Yanukovich’s accomplices not been punished?”) to Poroshenko, the Ukrainian President of that time, during the election campaign – see video at the end of this post, 23:50.

Poroshenko did not answer, but now, after Zelensky has been more than two years in office, the same question must be put to Mr. Zelensky himself.

Yanukovych is still presumed innocent of corruption because his guilt of corruption has not been proven by a court yet (see Article 62 of the Ukrainian Constitution).

the desire of Yanukovich to turn Ukraine into another Russia

What actions did Yanukovich take in order to turn Ukraine into another Russia?

He was a legitimately elected President and no evidence of his usurpation of power has been found yet.

Yanukovych's desires were his mental processes and they could not be a reason for a “revolution”.

Ivan , did get paid for this crap ?

... i was in Ukraine many times ....

It's such a surprise that a person, who has taken the surname of the former Chairman of Ukrainian Parliament as his nickname for the forum, “was in Ukraine many times ....”.

Because many officials from the Poroshenko administration and now the Zelensky administration tied with these corruption schemes. These schemes didn't disappear and are working now.

The decision of Ukraine's Constitutional Court which abolished amendments curbing presidential power (there were reports that Yanukovich's administration 'closely' worked with the Court to achieve that); changing electoral process which enabled the Party of Regions to gain far more seats during the election. Etc.

A wonderful anti-corruption "revolution", after which no corrupt officials have been punished and “many officials from the next administration and now from the latest administration tied with these corruption schemes. These schemes didn't disappear and are working now” for seven and a half years.

A wonderful anti-usurpation "revolution" too, after which only some “reports” have being retold for seven and a half years and once again – nobody has been convicted on usurpation charges.
