What was your greatest fear as a kid?

My older sister

Say when you were 10-12 years old?

I was asked that question and being a pretty fearless outdoor type of kid about all I could think of was when mom said "just wait till your father gets home" after I messed-up.

It was usually a hollow threat....But sometimes it wasn't. ;)

LOL, I was the Ol' Yeller generation and I was terrified that there would be a rabid dog on the other side of the gate when I took the garbage out.

Best Christmas movie ever.

Whenver I would come up the stairs from our basement, I would always get this shiver up my spine in the fear there was some monster/vampire about to rush up the stairs after me.

I was afraid people would come to the door to tell me and Mom, that Dad wasn't coming home any more but I should be proud.

I was afraid of having a severe asthma attack. I've had it since I was very young, about 6 or 7 years old. My parents gave me a horrible tasting liquid that DID help. I didn't start using an inhaler until much later, around 16 years old.

I had two: nuclear war and getting cancer.
Luckily, I've not had to deal with either of them.
Yet.

Well like most Gen X boys raised by boomers (born in 1965) - I was tough, outside 16 hours a day and adventurous. I am extremely grateful I grew up during a time of sanity and normality.
Having said that - I guess my greatest fear as a kid was not being accepted into groups of kids, but I don't know if even that is true. I was fortunate also to grow up in a neighborhood of a bunch of boys around my age.

I have genuine fear for my grandchildren (5,3 and <1) what is it going to be like for them?
Will it be a culture that returns to some sense of saneness? Or continue down the rabbit hole to nowhere but even more anti-social, apathetic and extreme selfish culture that believes in nothing, unpatriotic and thinks the world was made for their safe spaces

15th post
I was afraid of the dark because my parents kept threatening to kill me and each other.
