I used to toss the neck and giblets but about five years ago I started saving them for my resident possum, same with the bones and odds and ends after they are boiled off for turkey soup. Possums eat everything including the bones and they store fat for the winter very well.

If you live where you can do so give your neighborhood possum a Thanksgiving feast.

Take care of your possum and your possum will take care of you. ;)

Hell yeah!!!

You wrap them in foil and bake them done.
When they cool off you can feed them to your pets for thanksgiving, or feed the local wildlife!!!

Don't waste that turkey!!

My granny would make gravy out of the turkey "innerds".
She also minced them up and put them in the stuffing.

You can also boil them with some turkey carcass and make turkey boullion for soups and stews and anything you use it for.

I just don't care for "innards".

LOL.....My grandmother insisted that I save the liver and heart from squirrels....It was all of them she would eat.

Possums are the FreeShitArmy of the animal kingdom.

You know damned well every one of those bastards voted for Biden in 2020. :laughing0301:

Oh come on! I think that they're cute and I've found skulls and teeth of them before in the woods and it's pretty cool. :)

I had more respect for possums until I saw something one day on my Grandpappy's farm, back in the 60's.

I found one of his cows that had died. When I looked at it, I noticed that its belly was moving a little and there was a hole in it. The next thing I knew, a possum stuck his head out of the hole and grinned at me. It was inside the cow, eating the damned thing from the inside out. :eek-52:

Oh yeah, I've seen that too when one would die and Famer John would drag it with a tractor to the "bone yard".

Hate to say it, but same thing for eagles. We seem to have an overabundance of those here in the rural areas of Wisconsin. They're not the magnificent birds they're portrayed to be. Most of the time, I see them on the roadside, sharing some road kill with the crows. They're pretty much a glorified buzzard. :laughing0301:

Thanks! I haven't seen any living possums yet but I've seen a couple of road kills, so I know we've got 'em.

Don't want to feed the Coyotes but maybe a possum meal would be safe inside the back yard with its 6 foot fence.

A possum is one of the nastiest animals ever. They shit all over everything, and it takes half an hour to get all that slimey mess washed off the porch with a hose.

Jeez, you don't feed them on the fuckin' porch dumbass. Even if you are feeding the neighborhood cat or your own cat you put it out in the yard. They will go to where the food is.

I just took the turkey "remains" out back and put them where I see my possum foraging at night....I just hope Mr. Bear stays away another night.

That's the same problem I had with my pet Democrat. He kept crapping all over the carpet so we had to have the vet put him down.

I kinda miss the little bastard. :icon_cry:

I didn't say I fed the bastard on the porch. I would never feed it anywhere. You'll have to ask the possum what he was doing on the porch. I have no idea.

It was the kind thing to do.

Maybe you learned your lesson about not feeding them in the first place, which makes them dependent and whiny, and before you know it, they're stealing your food. I've got a big fence to keep them out of my garden.

Possums are neat little animals. They will actually play dead when there is no other option to get away. America's only marsupial mammal.
