What to do with the $800 billion the illegal aliens send home?

Getting back o the thread title, congress needs to enact a "Remittance Tax" to get some of that $800b to pay for the wall and ICE

Pure fantasy

Congress can enact the remittance tax. A 1% tax gets $8b, nothing to sneeze at.

Foreign Remittance Tax, often referred to as a remittance fee or transfer tax, is a levy imposed by governments on money sent from one country to another.

I would like to see a 20% remittance tax - which would yield the $160 billion the illegals cost taxpayers.

Also, most of them work under the table for cash - and a lot of it. The day laborers near me are getting more than $100 a day, tax-free. This way, the remittance tax will just be a different way for the illegals to pay into the system.

OK
If you want to tax their work, then give them temporary work visas, let them work legally, earn a fair wage and pay taxes
No, that will ENCOURAGE more of these lowlifes to break into our country. Stop legitimizing them.

We collect the tax when they send money home.

If you want to tax them, let them work on the books, get benefits and pay taxes

JUST FYI...

A remittance tax would impact legal aliens, citizens, and businesses also.

Just say'n...

And if you say, "well it would only apply to illegals" you just gave them a huge out to avoid the tax. So instead of illegal sending money home, the illgeal will give the money to a legal, who sends the money home.

Why would a legal citizen want to help illegals who are damaging this country?

Oh riiiight…..the leftists, who always side with the wrong people.

(As I recall, you’re against Israel and Jews, too.)

Why would a legal citizen want to help illegals who are damaging this country?
Because that person is from their country and is helping people from their homeland who are struggling

$100 for a full days work? That's pathetic. If an american starts doing that job it will have to be $200 .

Capitalism.

I'm not a leftist, I'm right of center never-Trumper. Voted GOP for 35 years until Trump won. Even voted GOP for Kasich twice in 2016.

(As I recall, you’re against Israel and Jews, too.)

That would be incorrect, I've never discussed Israel and Jews.

Why are employers hiring non vetted employees? Do they use the lie ameican labor costs too much?

Tax-free, and for someone barely able to read, with a 9th grade education? That’s damn good.

And no, the lawn work isn’t worth more than $50k a year. Nobody is going to pay an American high school dropout $100k for that.

Instead, we deport the illegals, and cut welfare so the guys hanging around the street corner all day, living off their baby mamas, will get a job.

Get ready to pay higher wages whether you like it or not. Or simply leave those jobs unfilled. Remember that if you pretend to pay people pretend to work. The american way defined.

You’re clueless.

Yes, you read that right - the illegals, while costing us $150 billion a year, send home $800 billion a year. How should Trump use this to America’s benefit?

Option 1) Tax the remittances by 25%, thereby recapturing the fortune the illegals cost America taxpayers and use it to offset their costs

Option 2) Tax the remittances by 50%, thereby recapturing the fortune we spend on them AND using the balance to secure the border and pay for deportations of criminal aliens

Option 3) Block remittances entirely, which will hurt the originating country and pressure them to take back the illegals (as some countries have said they won’t), and use the money for border security, deportations, and more

Family raise invoice, sent to worker in US...

He pays invoice....

WOW, just found a loophole is this idiotic idea...

The problem with these MAGA is they can't see that the undocumented worker in US is the reason products and services are cheap...
Last week one EU country thought of going to Texas, hiring any undocumented construction workers and giving 3 year visas (with a flight home once a year after work 2000 hours to return the next year). This way they can fix their housing crisis and hard luck Texas...
Texas gets rid of it 'illegals' (which is half their construction workforce) and EU country can tackle its housing crisis...

There is this. But the illegals are far worse..

American workers are tired of hearing that labor costs are high. No, they are not. Not even close.
