Not even close…way too much Russian propaganda there. No one provoked a war. Putin long held ambitions of rebuilding the Soviet empire and that is what this is about. Remember Chechnya? Two wars. Both started by Russia. First war, Russia obliterated the tiny Republic, huge civilian casualties, gutted and destroyed cities, but couldn’t stop the resistance and lost in a humiliating defeat, granting Chechnya much of what it wanted: withdrawal of troops and autonomy. Second war started with a false flag operation blaming Chechens. Same thing, utter destruction then installation of a Russian approved strongman. Then there was Georgia, another former Republic. Then Syria…same thing, the deliberate targeting of civilians, massacres, demolition… while not part of former Russia, it was Russia‘s testing grounds for new weaponry… sounding familiar? It should. Now jump to Ukraine, a sovereign nation. It did not attack Russia, attempted to navigate peaceful relations with despite enormous pressure, Russia then attacked and took Crimea and fomented and supported warring separatist factions in the East. Chechnya had nothing to do with NATO. Nor Georgia. Nor Ukraine. It what have happened regardless because it was part of Putin’s long term plan.
