I did some quick reading and it says he is charged under the Espionage act. However, this law is an American law and he's Australian. I am not saying what he did is legal, it definitely is illegal, but it just seems kind of strange to me that an American law would apply to a foreigner.

He leaked government secrets to the press.

That's a crime.

No more criminal that what the NYT did, when they printed the Pentagon Papers.

As in not at all.

worthy of review Odd one......~S~

It's a crime committed against America.

DERP
I know that. But what I am saying is that he shouldn't have been charged with an American crime because he is not an American. The only ones who are answerable to American laws are Americans and he's not one.

What you are addressing is a legal issue. It’s known as in personam jurisdiction.

Whether or not a court has in personam jurisdiction over any criminal defendant depends.

refers to the legal authority a court has to make a decision that directly affects a specific person or entity due to their involvement in the case

Lol, doesn't work that way in real life.

Then, I guess you are glad he and the US Government have reached some kind of accord over his actions.

15th post
No.

He deserves a full pardon, AND compensation for being illegally hounded.
BS. That would be like cart blanch for anybody else wishing to conspire to release classified material, including method, contacts, personnel and covert acts on the World Wide Web to the benefit of our enemies, and compromising trusts with allies. He is Australian. Let him go back there, blocked NO FLY from re-entering the US again. Surely he has a home to go to.

Among other things he exposed American war crimes.

He didn't conspire to jack shit....He published material that he was given in good faith, just like the NYT did with the Pentagon Papers.

You don't want embarrassing shit to get out, quit being little criminal sneaks.
