Population of Gaza: 1,551,859 (according to CIA Factbook)
Number of Palestinian suicide bombers - hard to find an accounting but assuming there is even remotely any accuracy i
n this to this we have a death toll of 480 between 1993-2008 (15 years) we have 163 successful suicide bombers.
Can't find out how many are "unsuccessful" but I'm guessing the number is not a whole lot higher.
Out of that group...
how many children?
Since the beginning of violence in the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000, 29 suicide attacks have been carried out by youth under the age of 18 and more than 40 youths under the age of 18 were involved in attempted suicide bombings that were thwarted The
youngest was 16 In addition, during combat the IDF classifies children as those younger than 12, between 12-14, children can be sentenced up to 6 months and after 14, Palestinian children are tried as adults. There are no juvenile courts, and children are often detained in centers together with adults.
While the use of children in combat is thoroughly and justifiably condemned by much of the world Israel uses the term "child" rather flexably in this regard.
In the end....the numbers are interesting. Out of well over a million people....you have a tiny proportion of suicide bombers. And as a result - you
seem to be saying they don't have a right to grow up.
