This is what makes Trumps actions pertaining to the Lankford/Sinema immigration bill so disgusting. He pressured congressional Republicans to block a major immigration bill, then used illegal immigration against his Democratic rival in the 2024 election. He ranted about Harris supporting open borders when he was the one who decided that it was more important for the southern border to remain “open” so he could use the problem to become president.

He and the MAGA Republicans created a false narrative about the immigration bill. For example, Representative Scalise claimed the bill allowed 5,000 illegals to enter this country before anything was done. That false information was repeated by pundits and by Trump himself. “Only a fool, or a Radical Left Democrat, would vote for this horrendous Border Bill, which only gives Shutdown Authority after 5000 Encounters a day.” The problem with their opinion was that the bill detained, screened and then deported the first 5,000. If there were more than 5,000 then all illegals were detained and deported. The bill also gave “discretionary activation” to Homeland Security if there was an average of 4,000 per day over a 7 day period. If we put that in perspective, border encounters reached the 4,000 average in 2019 during the Trump administration. Despite the facts being reported, many Americans ignored them and repeated the Biden is for open borders narrative, and then stuck that narrative to Harris during the 2024 campaign.
The Lankford/Sinema Immigration bill Trump sabotaged was endorsed by the Border Patrol Council. As written below, this council represents border agents.

“The National Border Patrol Council, the union that represents agents around the country, has come out in support of the newly released bipartisan Senate border deal. Council President Brandon Judd said it will give agents new authorities that they have not had in the past, giving undecided lawmakers a key nod of approval.”

“This will allow us to remove single adults expeditiously and without a lengthy judicial review which historically has required the release of these individuals into the interior of the United States.” Judd said in a statement. “This alone will drop illegal border crossings nationwide and will allow our agents to get back to detecting and apprehending those who want to cross our borders illegally and evade apprehension. While not perfect, the Border Act of 2024 is a step in the right direction and is far better than the current status quo. This is why the National Border Patrol Council endorses this bill and hopes for its quick passage.”

Americans voted to have illegal invaders removed from our midst. If they came here illegally ... they must go. Perhaps the tactics used to achieve this goal could be revised but the job must continue.

Another tactic that I believe MUST be used is to go after the corporations who employ illegals in the first place. If we remove the incentives that draw illegals to America in the first place then this problem would almost solve itself.
